Says President Nero while attempting to grab a nearby fiddle with his tiny, tiny bruised hands.

Every day that he lives is a tragedy

[-] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 90 points 5 days ago

One of my teachers in a humanities related field said she had a dream where people were running through the street and making tons of noise at like 2 am that woke her up, and they were just screaming “HE’S DEAD! HE’S DEAD!!”

So that’s how people in the humanities are doing, if anyone was curious.

[-] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 20 points 5 days ago

I excitedly launch my news app every time I hear anything that might be gunshots or fireworks. I have an $80 bottle of bourbon on deck.

[-] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 4 days ago

I might actually relapse that day- not fully, just with a glass or two of champagne. I think that's a celebration worthy of a drink despite the eight years of sobriety.

[-] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago

There are good sparkling NA options so you can have a special, celebratory drink without breaking the streak. Also, congrats on 8 years!

[-] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Cheers mate, thank you. I definitely enjoy those options from time to time and will likely stick with them. I don't think I could sacrifice the best thing I've ever done for myself, even in celebration of the planet being a bit lighter.

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Nah, man, ain't nothing worth relapsing. My brother is a drunk, and has never tried to seriously get sober to my knowledge. If he ever did, I wouldn't encourage him to drink under any circumstances. It's a slippery slope for people who have a problem with alcohol.

[-] thumbtaxx@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Ha! Was gonna post the same, 7 yrs now, but dang, might need to hoist a glass on that merry day!

[-] Kenny4tunes@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

He's really not worth it... and that's coming from another who understands the good fight.

Maybe another cheap(ish) thrill of a lottery ticket? Or get your adrenalin going another way, such as with a bike ride, or a bush walk 🤷‍♂️ just thinking out loud, hopefully that's okay.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

I think thats pretty much everyone in every discipline, not just the humanities folks.

[-] finley@lemmy.zip 5 points 5 days ago

We all deal with trauma differently

[-] GardenGeek@europe.pub 1 points 4 days ago

Trump being dead wouldn't solve anything. He's demented puppet of a rotten system which won't change just because a the puppet breaks.

[-] Soggy@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

It would solve one thing at the very least.

[-] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Brands need their mascots.

[-] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I think every option other than Trump is better than him simply because the popular mandate can't be had by a freak like Miller, it can't be had by a rizzless baffoon like Vance, a stuffy devil in a suit like Vought, a sniveling gremlin pedophile like Lutnick, or a out and about Jewish Supremacist like Kushner. The only person I worry about being in charge is Tucker Carlson. Given how the world only ever seems to get worse, I think this would be the end result. Most of my predictions are true by imaging the worst possible scenario. The only upsides to him is that he's made a lot of enemies, but I think he's demonstrated his ability to lie his way into power and I don't think that would be a saving grace for us at all, we'd probably be fucked, and he's definitely smart enough and charismatic enough to achieve most of his white supremacist goals. The best case scenario is Trump having a stroke while complaining about Tucker being a traitor.

[-] GardenGeek@europe.pub 1 points 3 days ago

I understand the argument, but I'm not sure if this circus of wacky sock puppets isn't primarily meant to distract us from the things that really matter right now, because we get so worked up every day over the nonsense coming out of the current administration.

[-] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago

I dunno, GoP all feel like they want to kill him but have no better alternative so keep him around

They might implode into infighting if he dies

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I agree

He's a symptom of how fucked 'Murica is

But, I'll still celebrate it

[-] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 45 points 5 days ago

Every day I wake up disappointed that him and Miller still live

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Miller made a deal with the devil, he's never going to die.

[-] 24_at_the_withers@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Don't forget to save some contempt for Russ Vought!

[-] Kenny4tunes@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

It would've been better if it was the other Mac still living; Mac Miller

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 34 points 5 days ago

The shame of a nation continues.

[-] X@piefed.world 6 points 5 days ago

The majority are too ignorant to even know how to be ashamed.

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

'Muricans celebrate the best things that they should be ashamed of

[-] 7rokhym@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

I suggest a horrible debilitating stroke that makes it impossible for him to move or talk while in unbelievable pain for every moment. He gets every treatment recommended by RFK which hopefully includes bleach. Ideally it will be nearly impossible to sleep, but enough so he is able to fully experience it. Hopefully the medical professionals will be able to keep him alive like this for years, ideally a decade and then finally someone will have the compassion to pull the plug so he finally starves to death.

[-] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago

McConnell is living that, it'll just turn him into an even easier to manipulate tool

[-] finley@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

As amusing as that sounds, I prefer that he explode. Immediately.

[-] 7rokhym@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

Preferred if captured on video.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago

I actually want him to stay alive until all the ballots are in. Better to have him dragging the GOP down.
