I wonder if they targeted users they couldn't tie back to real identities. I never used an account tied to a real identity or a real email address and all of my accounts were banned for pretty innocuous or specious reasons.
One was banned for advocating violence against women, because I called Kaitlyn Jenner an attention whore. One was banned for saying Luigi is a hero. Of course all attempts at appeals were ignored.
You'd probably be more comfortable over on Twitter or Truth social then. Casual homophobia doesn't go over well around here.
Alright then. Fortunately, unlike on reddit, blocking here actually treats an account as if it no longer exists. So that's enough of you for one lifetime. 👋
I was reading their earlier comments trying to figure out why they were removed, and then got deeper into the thread. Jeez. Then they wonder why they get banned everywhere. They really came into the place we called home and decided they were going to be an ass to all of us? Then are surprised when they get banned?
The mods and admins won't look kindly on that, just to give you a fair warning.
Homophobia is not something that is tolerated well here.
What's the point of coming into a community to spread hate on purpose?
Again, the Fediverse is still rather small, we all kinda know each other here. You won't find a warm welcome this way.

We've got a pretty large LGBTQ+ user base here. Homophobia isn't funny no matter how rational and logical your other topics of conversation were there.

You're getting this upset over the smallest pushback on using "gay" as an insult. Interesting.
Yeah when you say out loud in a room full of strangers that you want to be able to call people "gay" because it's funny, you're gonna get a reaction.
So, before you run your mouth any more, you should know that lemmy is a pretty small population and proudly obnoxious people may not be banned, but they sure as hell can be put on a lot of people's personal blocklists.
