It's looking like it was more likely 580mph or so, as the ADSB maxes out at 32k feet/min

Yeah, I've heard that too. The last few reports from their transponder seem to support that, since they are all the exact same value. I'll be interested to see if the NTSB is able to extrapolate the actual rate of descent for the last few seconds. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it's certainly interesting.
