Hope those up north are doing ok with the weather. Windy is showing a big low pressure system sitting on the top of the north island that isn't forecasted to dissipate until the end of the week. Looks like another week of crappy weather yay..
The falls up here today:
It was very windy and heavy downpours overnight up here in the Far North. The rain seemed to come in phases, once it eased for a bit, easily went back to sleep. We’re lucky in being down the west side of a ridge, so were more sheltered there. It’s gone lighter now (11:00am), no rain and a lot less windy. Could be we’re currently in the eye of the storm.
It does look like the eye is pretty close to the far north now. Wind is starting to pick up now in Hamilton, but not much rain. My poor plants are all holding on for dear life.
Once the eye has passed, the wind will then come from the west. This might make it more uncomfortable, and potentially more damage, for us. Hope everything stays safe for you.
They're really taking a hammering right now, aren't they?
I love using Windy - but one thing I've noticed is that the Wind Speed predictions consistenly seem to be higher than predicted on Metservice. I'm sure its due to different models etc, but curious to see which of the two lands "closer".
Is that for all the models on Windy? Changing between them can sometimes have pretty big differences that I've seen.
Yeah - I've found changing around, you can see massive differences.
Keen to hear if anyones found any model to "outperform" the others for NZ?
For me it was metservice (got a few apps and compared their forecasts to what we received).
Yeah - I do think the Metservice is the best for NZ. Which is a bummer, because I really like Windy (and have even paid for the premium version of it), and would like at least one of the models to be somewhat comparable.
Windy is way prettier!
haha definitely!
