Things have been quite good for me lately.
Neighbour/baking saga: after eating 3 lots of baking we made for them ourselves we eventually managed to give them a packet of biscuits!! They seem really nice. In related news, I am now on a diet.
Outside situation: I am not going to be a very good butterfly host this year as we don't have as many plants as usual. But I'm doing my best to care for what's here and maybe add to next year's.
We have lots of Swan plants kept for the Monarchs, unfortunately the caterpillars encourage the German wasps, which can be a bit aggressive when passing nearby. However, the Swan plants are somewhat invasive, so need ongoing managing.
Hey, cool! Yes swan plants can go crazy. I wish mine were allowed to.
What you could do though is consider adding in some South American milkweed. It's more manageable and has pretty flowers. The butterfly trust sells seeds on trademe.
Thanks for that hint. As you said, the swan plants go mad, and grow extensively.
I'm glad you finally managed to get them some biscuits! I'd given up hope 🙁
So had I! They actually didn't answer the door so we left the biscuits with a note and I thought maybe Dave is right they're avoiding us, but they came over later and gave us some chocolate!
That's awesome!
Yes I was pretty stoked!
