Thought for the day
Do you engage in A/B testing in your daily life?
I'm an engineer and sometimes have to as part of my work. e.g. if we do this (A) the out come is that, if we do this other thing (B), we have a different outcome. Then we analyze the results and decide on which course of action was better.
But there are many other instances where you can do this, all you really need is something that happens regularly and an idea about how to improve it. Breakfast for example, happens every day, if I swap my coffee for a cold shower am I more awake? So rather than porridge and coffee, I try cold shower and then porridge. How do I feel on the way to work?
If I have been too busy to post my thought for the day on Lemmy, how many comments are there on the daily korero?
Definitely. I'm someone who likes to optimise.
Come to think of it, at the moment I'm trying to teach myself chess and one of the things I do is probably AB testing. Like, I was wondering about opening order for the London as black, so I played ten blitz games where in move 3 I play the knight and in move 4 the e pawn for half the games, and for the other half I move the e pawn in move 3 and the knight in move 4.
Sorry what? "If I swap my coffee for a cold shower...". You need help my friend.
That was just an example...I like coffee too much
I go through patches without coffee. It's how I worked out coffee makes me really tired. I think I could probably point to a few different ways I do A/B testing, but I don't often do it with intent. I just like doing things differently sometimes, and with coffee I just didn't want to be addicted so I go through patches without. But I like the taste which is why I still drink it at all.
