Bit of a Gish Gallop. Ah well, to descend to a fallacious argument of my own....

You and I have allowed ideologies to conquer what is a legitimate part of the New Zealand economy, ie digging things up

...spoken like a man who is involved in questionable Northland Swamp Kauri exports to China with little scratchings on the surface to circumvent the law by pretending it is "Maori carvings".

TIL that not wanting vast areas of natural beauty to be subject to massively toxic, native-species-destroying degradation for small change is "ideology". Sigh.
