Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

My old Senheiser HD 598s stopped working recently. Sound only came from one of the speakers. I took them apart to see if I could spot any issues but it all looked good. I tried wiring the working speaker to the not working speaker and that made the speaker work. I then thought the issue might be the wiring through the headband so I added new wire but that still didnt work. I ended up doing more testing and settling on the issue being the right output for the headphone jack and since I couldn't find a replacement part I am gonna have to throw them out.

On the positive note im getting a lot better at soldering and more confident taking things apart and soldering the wires around. Now I just got to wait for the next thing to break so I can attempt to fix it.

Well done! I like to think of myself as an excellent solderer, but every time I try to solder the stupid enamel wires they use in (cheap) headphones it ends up some kind of hideous mess. Next time, I'll have to make new cables from scratch just so I don't have to deal with it.
