Why not?

It's a protein, so it really just depends on what your eating with them. As long as you're getting balanced nutrition, there's no reason Chicken Wings can't be the protein choice every day.

each according to his or her abilities and each according to his or her needs

That's not anarchism. That's literally a direct quote from the Communist Manifesto.

I get what you're saying. I agree with what you're saying. It's why I'd guess most of us are here on Lemmy. Why most of us probably use Android. And why most of us are likely Linux/FOSS entusiasts.

Because the communist one two punch of a) From each according to their capacity to each according to their needs, and b) Give a Brick, get a house.

But those things aren't a function of anarchism at all.

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

Lyndon B. Johnson

Nothing ever changes except which marginalised group they target. But its always... ALWAYS the same strategy; get them fighting a culture war so that they are too distracted to notice the real enemy.

If any government, of any political stripe, announces something that is ostensibly good for it's citizens and bad for the corporate class, there's ALWAYS another shoe to drop eventually.

Politicians work for the corporate oligarchy. While some may be more blatantly corrupt about it than others, it's still a universal truth.

I've spent 20 days waiting for a part from China to (hopefully) repair my 18 year old very basic fridge because I refuse to get some stupid fucking touchscreen internet connected advertising box.

I fucking hate the modern world.

That, to me, is the truly ironic part.

It's not that anyone is going to thank him. He's an asshole and let him die in ignominy. But if we can survive his fucking around, there is a better world on the other side of it where one country doesn't get to lord over anyone else.

Did an impromptu rewatch during my labour day weekend. Had never watched past Extinction before. Retribution is FAR better than Afterlife and the whole thing ended on a pretty weak entry. But on the whole, fuck the haters; I un-ronically had a blast turning my brain off and watching all of them.

As the title says. Anyone able to explain to me like a particularly slow child why all of a sudden my rendering view with lights, etc... come out as blue and pink, whereas the material preview mode is correct?

It's rendered pixels that don't exist anywhere else except the digital world. Ergo...a cartoon or animated film by definition.

~~Just wondering if the flatpak is an official package by the devs or by a third party. I'm unable to sync until the flatpak updates to 3.7.0+ and the last update to the flatpak was a couple of months ago. ~~

Edit: Never mind. Found my answer here. Didn't find it at first because I was looking at the Joplin Github issues page and not the specific Flatpak Github issue page.

Carry on. I'm an idiot.

If you use AI to write your speeches, you clearly have not bothered to study the issue at hand and are therefore not qualified to be representing your constituents on said issue.

The vast majority of interactions with the public can be taken care of with non-lethal means, tasers, etc... (if any are even necessary).

Lethal weapons should be in a remote lock holster in their cruiser, and must be unlocked remotely by a supervisor on a per-case basis depending on the facts at hand (suspect's history, potential risk, etc...)

Maybe that's pie in the sky optimism, I don't know.

"Vintage" from 1986.

I can't decide if I should laugh at the idea that this seller thinks a My Pet Monster doll is in any way worth 600 dollars. Or cry because my childhood is now considered "vintage". (I was 10 in 1986)

I hadn't played in a few years and just had an urge to do another run the other night.

Was very pleased to see the dev statement on the loading screen regarding A.I. use. They didn't mince words about it either.

It's sucking up metal and dropping it!

Jesus...H...Christ...

I'm sitting here on my tablet while my father watches Age of Extinction (visiting for the weekend), and every once I a while a line that is so... fucking...stupid enters my ears and leaves me dumbfounded.

UPDATE: Long story short...I still have no clue. Unplugging my second monitor got the proprietary drivers working properly on KDE Neon, but not on any Arch based distro I tried. I tried kernels from 6.1 to 6.18, and drivers all the way from 470 (disaster) to 595, dkms and open. Followed all the advice on the Arch docs regarding power management, blacklisting, etc...

Soooo....I don't know. But I'm up and running with a single monitor on an Ubuntu based distro, which isn't ideal, but right now I'll take what I can get.

In a few days, the final two components will arrive to finally get a fully capable desktop PC again after roughly six months limited to a tiny chromebook wiped and replaced with Linux.

It took a while to have the spare cash to get a new/used system off of ebay with the intention of transferring the bulk of my higher end parts from my old desktop to that one, only to realize that the new desktop used a Lenovo 10 pin Power supply, so I'd have to order an adapter to be able to install my 750 watt PSU in order to install my 3060 Graphics Card.

That should be arriving this week, as well as an extra 16 gigs of ram to add to the 16 already in it.

So when all is said and done, what should be my celebration game after six months of being limited to an ex-chromebook with 4 gigs of ram?

  • EU4
  • HOI4
  • KSP
  • XCOM 2 (war of the chosen)
  • Rimworld
  • Civ VI
  • Uboat

Those are the ones that I've been missing the most these last six months. Which game, say you?

They're welcome to it.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the entire benefit of lemmy/piefed/etc... They can have their space, and any other instance can choose not to federate with them so we aren't forced to listen to them, unlike the alternative, where an algorithm forces them into everyone's face.

Rather than telling them they don't have the right to speak, we simply have the ability to shut our window and not listen to them.

Let them bitch at each other.

If your business plan can't make a profit while paying your people a living wage, than it doesn't deserve to be in business.

Expecting people to live paycheque to paycheque in order to subsidize your desire to be a business owner is the Pinnacle of bullshit.

[-] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 215 points 2 years ago

The fact that people care about whether their messages are blue or green is so absolutely ridiculous.

I've known people who literally refuse to message anyone who doesn't use iMessage (and by extension has an iPhone).

Every one of them turned out to be a twat in every other facet of their personality as well.

[-] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 211 points 3 years ago

correction... always were worthless.

It's always been a con game.

Their so-called "value" was always determined by the ability of the person shilling it to make up bullshit. Literally the definition of a "confidence" game. Same problem as crypto in general. It's only has value if you have confidence in the person shilling it. The moment that person loses the confidence of their marks, the entire thing crumbles to nothing because it isn't backed by any real tangible assets.
