Pretty much, if you let them know you're there you're just making more work for yourself when you gotta chase them down.

I prefer quick meals too over having to waste time and effort lol! I'd just prefer to stay off the menu.

It's another layer of shit on the manure pile.

Problem is they pay people to be smart for them. Most of them are just selfish dumbasses.

Yup, Not many people get the opportunity to see one up close and live to tell about it, unless there's something REALLY solid in between them. Like that Nat Geo guy in the cage. https://youtu.be/U-S4NbX5IYE They're absolutely terrifying up close...

They don't typically roar tho, unless they're fighting or f..uh screwing. And they're not scared of anything.

Maybe some compression algorithm shit the bed I guess lol.

I think the painting shows the largest they've found, not the norm. It's like showing Robert Wadlow (The tallest guy in the world at 8 ft 11.1 in (2.72 m) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Wadlow) to show the size of humans. Yes we can get that large, but it's an extreme example.

They're northern Hemisphere, not Antarctica. We have them in our province (Manitoba), but yes they're big. On average tho not quite as big as the painting there shows.

I'm on desktop and it's not very good. I thought my net was crapping out until I saw the comments

Both my kids are in their 30's... I still have to mow my lawn, and then go across town and mow my daughter's lawn too. I guess I'm just doomed to mow until I die.

I guess it's dangerous to let others have the freedom to be happy and just be themselves. That kind of thing might rub off on his family you know. /s

Aww poor guy. Is there somewhere we can donate to buy him some sunflower seeds to stuff in his pockets? /s

Backstory: I live in an area with a lot of strays/abandoned cats. For the last 6-7 years I've made friends with a bunch of them (roughly 25 so far.) I've been leaving food out, and have been bringing them in to get fixed as the little bit of money I get allows. (around 15 so far, been focusing on the females although a few boys have been done too.) Found homes for a number of them, but a few new ones keep showing up every year.

I live in Canada, our winters regularly drop below -30c (-22f) and much colder. In the spring it's not uncommon to find a dead one in the neighborhood that had froze during the winter. I have an insulated box outside that has saved a few from freezing to death, but it's not heated and isn't very big. I have very little extra money but I want to do what I can for the little furballs. (I've been wanting to upgrade my 15yr old pc for years now, but this is more important to me.)

What I want to do is take an old broken apartment size chest freezer that I have and turn it into a cat house with a pet heating pad to keep it at least a bit warmer for any cat that needs it. I was going to cut a cat flap into the side for them and make a few floors or levels inside. I think it'll help, but I'm a bit concerned about how the air quality will be in there. Will the cat flap let enough air through, or should I vent it as well? Is there anything else I should be doing as well? If anyone has any suggestions or improvements on my idea, I'd love to hear them.

probably nobody will care, but I'm sad at the passing of my microwave. It was born in July of 1983, and died march 24th, 2026. I had bought it used in 1992 and it faithfully served me and my family for many years until today, when the keypad decided to partially quit working. Rest in peace Zappy, you will be missed.

I'm looking for a new keypad but unsurprisingly the parts for this ancient thing are no longer in stock so I doubt I'll be able to resurrect it without some sort of miracle. I know it's just an appliance but it still makes me sad to see it go.

I wonder if JB Weld can fix this. I guess only one way to find out.

They're from the phones you see in old movies that you had to crank to talk to an operator, commonly used up until the 1950's. I put my multimeter on one and it's still reading 1.3 volts. The owner told me I can take the whole lot of them if I want them which I'm tempted to do just because I like to collect old junk but I probably drag enough useless crap home as it is.

I tried looking around a little and it sounds really scammy to me. All the contact info and domain registrars is listed "redacted for privacy." Personally the whole thing seems to smell funny to me but I could be wrong. Anyone used or heard of this site before? I just want to make sure my daughter isn't going to get screwed over

Not the regular type of post in this sub, but I thought some of you might enjoy it anyway.

In the background of the one pic you can see one of the abandoned schoolhouses in the distance.

I didn't get a closer pic of this one sadly because a)Bees and b) I got distracted by the old Fargo that's directly behind me in this pic.
