I can highly recommend "Fools Rush In: Steve Case, Jerry Levin, and the Unmaking of AOL Time Warner" by Nina Munk as a fantastic examination of how things got this bad regarding media consolidation

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

hes also the one that allow Malone to astroturff CNN in the first place.

[-] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 215 points 1 day ago

Needs more, jpeg, I can almost read it

[-] notabot@piefed.social 16 points 1 day ago

Check you're not just seeing the thumbnail, it's a good size for me. I think sone clients default to the small view unless you click them or similar.

[-] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 43 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I'm on desktop and it's not very good. I thought my net was crapping out until I saw the comments

[-] notabot@piefed.social 13 points 1 day ago

That's really bizzare, on lemmy instances, even the poster's home instance, it's tiny and blurry, but on piefed instances (I've tried piefed.social and piefed.world) it shows up fine. Just obe of the mysteries of the fediverse I guess.

[-] Ghoelian@piefed.social 1 points 18 hours ago

This is the 2nd time today I've seen lemmy users mention this issue while i see the full yes on piefed. Must be a bug in lemmy i guess.

[-] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Maybe some compression algorithm shit the bed I guess lol.

I think it's legit just displaying the thumbnail image as the main image for some reason, so yeah probably a compression algorithm shit the bed. Never seen this on Lemmy before though, kinda curious what broke to cause this.

[-] bilb@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

It looks fine on this instance. Maybe it's a .world media storage thing going on.

[-] over_clox@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Nope, I'm on lemmy.world and getting the full quality image.

Using the Jerboa app right now, so the client app might have half of something to do with it..

Using Voyager app I got the original full image as well

See a CEO like what?

LIKE WHAT?!!!??

TELL MEEEEEEE!!!!!

[-] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 61 points 1 day ago

Rename HBO Max to "Max"

My favorite part was when Zaslav announced Max would be rebranded as HBO Max two years later, claiming, "HBO's prestigious reputation was too valuable" as if that weren't something everyone but him knew all along.

[-] bugbear@lemmy.sdf.org 42 points 1 day ago

Okay, I'll warn people about blurry CEOs. They should be easy to spot

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Bigfoot CEOs are a menace

how is the preview image clearer than the image you see when you click on it?

[-] TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago
[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Image so blurred they confused it for his name on the Epstein list.

[-] over_clox@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

What is everyone on about? Blurry?

The image is crystal clear on my end. I'm a member of lemmy.world and using the Jerboa app.

I'm gonna save this post to investigate later, just out of curiosity, because seriously the posted screenshot image appears crystal clear on my end, and I don't think OP edited their post.

What are you folks seeing to say its blurry/needs more JPEG?

[-] przemyslawowo@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago

Let Luigi know lol

[-] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 day ago

I like the pixel that’s the ceo.

[-] slaacaa@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

A capitalist success story

[-] CheesyFingers@piefed.social 8 points 1 day ago

warn a brother

Warn of what???
We keep fucking saying that these epstein class CEOs are not just worthless but genuinely detrimental and should be put down like sick dogs. But you guys keep hiring them for some reason.

[-] Kraiden@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago

you guys

They hire each other! We get no say. In the words of George Carlin: It's a big club, and you ain't in it

[-] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 day ago

Are there CEOs not like this?

At some small, privately owned companies, yeah.

Why are so many people complaining about quality of the image? I don't think the quality can get any higher

[-] lemmyman@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is a high quality version. The main post opens to a much lower quality version for me and everyone else complaining, I guess.

Not sure how well this will come through but here's a voyager screenshot. Your version is visible below and is much sharper

if i ever see a CEO like this i know i forgot to put in my glasses

[-] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Actually he wanted to sell it to Netflix (which is marginally better) but the shareholders choose Paramount because it offers way more money for the valuation of WB IIRC

He is still a fucking asshole

[-] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Does anyone like alternate history?

[-] lone_faerie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago

The biggest loss of WB under David Zaslav is Battlebots

[-] TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

He shut down the Cartoon Network website.

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

They always just LOOK evil.
