sometimes you don't have an option. it forces you to install updates

agreed on the inexpensive knife, but I've never had good enough results with any quick sharp pull through tool. I use one knife for basically everything and hone it maybe once a week for fifteen seconds. it's very easy to keep it sharp if you don't abuse it (thank you dad for always looking for the sharpest thing in the room regardless of what the task is and for using knives on teflon and steel pans and ceramic plates...). I sharpen it maybe twice a year? I honestly don't remember if I've even sharpened it in 2026

the disconnect between how people act face to face and how they vote is sometimes mind blowing

then with other people, it's just right as expected. you know the type, the ones who never think to hold a door, who leaves shopping carts in the way, who act like dangerous assholes the moment they start driving a vehicle

or customers.

it works everywhere, even on me

I use it with customers, to hide something I haven't quite figured out yet or know will result in a lengthy conversation that's been had a dozen times before with no change in outcome

my team knows that there's only so much time for review, so if they put dumb things to catch in reviews of their work, they can slip larger things by the quality review process. they also understand that that's on them — if there's so much wrong with something that it would simply take too long to point it all out, the problem is with their work, not with the reviewer.

only somewhat related, but shout out to the guy who would repeatedly make the same mistakes on drawings over and over again. he would put up a review package of 100 drawings, the common mistake would be noted explicitly on the first couple, and then on the 3rd the note would read "applies to all subsequent drawings". that guy would then only fix the ones that were explicitly called out. either a complete dumbass or lack of giving a shit, I don't know which. I've probably worked with both.

I can't remember what I was buying or where this happened now, but recently I was buying something (by cc) in store and they would not let me pay without providing a phone number

this is extra funny because as anyone who's been to fandom without an ad blocker knows, the site is 80% aids

anyone know if the driver was jailed pending charges and whatnot for reckless driving resulting in bodily harm?

mate that's not so much a "truck doesn't stop for children in crosswalk" as it is a "driver completely blows a red light and runs into children in crosswalk on their crossing signal"

just a little bit understated

important lesson in explaining WHY instructions/rules exist and not just giving them without context

I'm sick of the sportsnet service disconnecting me a dozen times during a game and requiring me to navigate through the app and to the game I was watching and to where I was in the game when it kicked me off.

I don't have cable or satellite and won't be getting them.

What are the remaining recommended ways to watch games?

and don't even think about flashing them to let them know you can't see anything

I've been in this situation a few times where I have something hanging out the hatch of a car. Often, there isn't really anything to hold the hatch down. But at slightly open positions like this, the handle for the hatch is perfectly oriented to clip a bungee cord on and hold it down.

Is this just a coincidence? Maybe. Still pleased me when strapping it down in the parking lot

I do wish there were actually a hook of some kind, though, for when it's significantly more open. Not that I've actually needed that.

Could have sworn I had more 6" & 24" trigger clamps for stuff like this
