Not sure where you are from, but if from the US it could be because we don't generally get hatchbacks that look kind of like that car. I always thought they looked awkward and ugly, but they kind of have grown on me since some neighbors have a Subaru hatchback and another one and Audi.

Correct, but it sounds more useful than 99% of extras that cars have nowadays. Beach trips and car camping would be a use case that goes with the whole SUV theme that people seem to currently go for.

They are extremely expensive for what they offer nowadays, at least if you live anywhere in California, Arizona, New Mexico or Texas. I'm assuming New York, Oregon, Seattle and any other states with local Mexican restaurants as well.
