We're pretty much comparing cow shit will bull shit here, it's true

[–] JoMomma@lemm.ee 55 points 6 months ago

They are both standing on their vanquished enemies

[–] stevedidwhat_infosec@infosec.pub 33 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah so turns out, lots of major religions stand on or once stood on “kill the enemies of our beliefs”

Maybe it’s time we put down the fucking tomes and pick up the pens.

I get what you're saying. We should start our own cult. ~One with hookers and blackjack.~

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You know what? Forget the blackjack.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

There is still the refractory period to consider.

[–] Deceptichum@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 months ago

And kill our enemies?

[–] stevedidwhat_infosec@infosec.pub 2 points 6 months ago

Do what you will, unless it stops me or my friends from doing what they wanna do 💜

I love how "economy" is the very base of the Christian's power here, lmao

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 7 points 6 months ago

I bet their Jesus guy would've loved that

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 24 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The Christian "dark ages" quite literally didn't end until they reestablished normalised contact with the Muslim east, which GAVE them mathematics, advances in medicine and science.

In return, the Christian West crusaded...

Literally the opposite of what this idiot is claiming.

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

Lol pretty telling that there's no math book on the Christian side. Almost like they're aware and just acting in bad faith

[–] rekabis@lemmy.ca 21 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The Middle Ages were also called “the dark ages” for a reason…

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 20 points 6 months ago

The crusades, the Spanish inquisition, the dark ages, and more recently the Rwandian Genocide.

The KKK. Rev. Fred Phelps. America's speaker of the house. Shit even flat earthers are all Christians.

If it wasn't for the dark ages humanity would be 900 years more advanced.

Oh and let's not forget the Salem Witch Trials.

This makes me wonder how well the aztecs would have done if they had to interact with different religions

[–] alternative_factor@kbin.social 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

They interacted with Catholics and got genocided. As for other native faiths, I don't really know much but they were very much an empire and treated other peoples very poorly.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago

I mean something like if budists landed on their shores or similar

[–] Crampon@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Guys didn't fuck around.

The mightiest culture has always held the weaker ones down.

There is some misconceptions flying around that indigenous people have been one with natur and lived in peace. Never happened.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 months ago

I remember reading a book on the Astec empire and its fall by the spanish was a sum of perfectly aligned random events, based on their system of beliefs. They could have resisted the invasion and records by spanish soldiers of the time on how the astecs were fierce and fearless warriors exist.

The astecs just stopped resisting at some point and either got assimilated or slaughtered and their civilization wiped out.

I thought the books represented the ideas that Christianity has killed (or tried to anyway). 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

I think it represents what they "appropriated" from other cultures, including middle eastern ones

[–] Binthinkin@kbin.social 13 points 6 months ago

Christians are so dumb and it’s been their entire existence unfortunately. They helped the Roman Empire crumble, their half of it devolved into the Dark Ages for a long time and when it got too much the worst ones moved to America and that’s how we got Trump.

[–] psoul@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

History?? Like Islam has no history? Has not contributed to humanity at all? Omg… And Christianity must be standing on the wrong side of that book...

[–] lud@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

Sweden is very non religious.

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 9 points 6 months ago

Just comparing their kill lists.

[–] ManinJustStartHere@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

why dont they chose peace?

[–] HopeOfTheGunblade@kbin.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, it seems like TST is mostly self promotion out front and shittiness behind the scenes, they just have a shorter history. I wish we had an org that was what TST claims to be.

What if someone can't eat gluten? Are they still accepted with their rice/corn noodles?

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Why are the book titles in different languages??

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Edit: misinterpreted your question. Not sure why.

[–] venoft@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Technology and science, please. Open a history book...

[–] enbyecho@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

This hymn gets sung quite a bit in churches:

"Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war. Christ the royal master leads against the foe. Forward into battle, see his banners go"

And they don't mean it ironically. Or metaphorically.

[–] moistclump@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I’m so fucking embarrassed to have ever been Christian. I’m glad I turned 18 and grew out of it, but… man.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Well .. the bottom book is where all the skulls are compressed (among other things).
All the wars, spreading the religion, & political consequences are in that book.

They both have the same book (everything does). War is for profit, regardless of the title. If there would be no economical gain, no actual wars get started.
