While only [Todd Jeremy Christian, a 45-year-old with an Austin address] was arrested, video evidence shows at least eight people were involved in the apparent assault on the group of family and friends. Of those eight, the Observer and Bellingcat have identified five—including Christian—as members or supporters of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT), a white supremacist prison gang founded in the 1980s that is unrelated to the original Aryan Brotherhood.

Caldwell County District Attorney Fred Weber told the Observer that the “incident and circumstances leading up to the assault remain under investigation” and that “if warranted by the evidence additional charges may be filed.” Weber said he could not comment on whether additional suspects beyond Christian had been identified.

Some of those who work forces are the same that burn crosses.

The greatness of Rage Against the Machine is that their music is always relevant. The depressing thing about Rage Against the Machine is that their music remains relevant.

Those who died are justified

For wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago

Shoot all Nazis on sight.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Only one was arrested because it was the rest of their gang doing the arresting?

[–] AshMan85@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Most likely.

It's weird, I never see the Klan AND the police in the same room.

I also never see that Clark Kent fella anytime Superman's around. Not a very good reporter if he keeps losing stories about the Big S man to that Lois Lane chick. They should really look into where the fuck Clark Kent's off to during these pivotal moments.

Maybe he's trying to copy that Peter Parker kid's method, he's never around when Spider-Man is and yet he always gets such great pictures of the guy.

Or maybe, just maybe... it's why I ALWAYS see Dr. Eggman and Dr. Robotnik in the same room? Ya know, cause they're the same fucking person making literally no effort to hide it.

They aren’t going to arrest their own people.

In a now-deleted Reddit post, one victim described how a “neo-nazi gang” with “their shirts off with swastika and other nazi symbols” held their friends underwater. One victim suffered a concussion, facial swelling, and a bruised retina resulting in partial vision loss, while another received a bruised eye, according to interviews with the victims. At least two sought medical attention after the attack.

The Observer acquired footage of the attack recorded by an eyewitness and verified the Reddit post’s claims with the victims. Video appears to show individuals who were part of the group that included the ABT members or supporters instigating the fight, which lasted approximately two minutes and took place in a part of the San Marcos River that is only a few feet deep. In the footage, apparent perpetrators seem to submerge two of the victims underwater.

Article has lots of pics showing tattoos and affiliations.

Having "mixed-race" (I honestly hate that term) kids, this is one of the things that I worry about living in the part of the South that I live in. They are still babies, but I worry about putting them in public school when it comes time. The direction that the country is going and the fact that people like this are so emboldened now is absolutely terrifying.

Edit: Was tired. Misspelled a word.

i like japan's "double race" interpretation instead

[–] denshirenji@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I just don't like the concept of race at all. We are all human, full stop. The concept is useful in understanding the realities of the world we live in with regard to how people are treated based on the concept, and it's useful for working to fix/mitigate the damage to individuals and groups based on it. Other than that it is make believe and only serves to separate us based on make believe stereotypes.

Edit: I read about "double race" on Wikipedia, and if I understand it correctly, it has more to do with culture than with race in concept, but I still have reservations about splitting people up into broad categories and viewing that as an absolute.

BTW, I've been to Japan many times and they are not wholly welcome to outsiders, so I don't know that I would base anything on that part of their system.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

It's an outdated concept that seeks to divide us. It made sense to catalogue race back in 1234 AD when we were sure that the Irish and the English were totally different species, but we aren't cavemen anymore we have functioning brain stems now.

Looks at the fact Trump was elected one time and it may happen again

Okay, some of us.. Remembers Trump never came close to the popular vote and the Electoral College is a form of voter supression

MOST of us have brain stems.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

I'm surprised they used the term "Mixed-Race", isn't the proper term "Interracial" or something? Mixed-Race just makes me think of the term "Race Mixing" which is one of the louder dog whistles you hear Nazis using.

This is why republican and conservative ghouls keep the race hate alive: https://lemmy.world/post/18175679?scrollToComments=true

The greedy want to distract from the fact that they’re robbing everyone and brainwash useful idiots so populist wrath can be misdirected. The US needs to do better, wtf

[–] BlorpTheHagraven@startrek.website 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Man. States rights are such bullshit.

[–] match@pawb.social 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

if these states weren't all part of the same country we'd be invading each other to fix this shit

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

One of the most apt things I've ever heard politically speaking is the sentence "If another country was doing to Americans what America literally does all the fucking time, the American Government would send the American Military to free America from the tyranny of America."

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

White power, Black power.. neither of these things get us anywhere..

Now Worker's Power? That can save the fucking world, and that's why the rich WANT us to be racist as hell.

I am astounded at the lack of gunplay.

Astounded, I tells ya.

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well they were all tubing down the river. Hard to be packing heat in your swim trunks and rented inner tube.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

My dude that’s what the spare-tube-with-the- cooler-in-it is for. Slide a double-bagged ziploc surprise in there and White Aryan Texas Whatevers won’t be fucking up for too long.

Of course you’ll be plastered, so the odds that it all goes terribly wrong are still pretty high. Common sense dictates: Do Not

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

Given what we know about American police I'm surprised didn't arrest the victims for intimidating these fine patriots with their highly political choice of skintone /sarcasm

Sorry, did that joke not land? I'll see myself out by calling ACAB.

Seriously though, even I feel a weird taste in my mouth for even jokingly referring to these guys as fine patriots, but... eh fuck it, only complete shitbags call themselves patriots these days. I mean it's even Homelander's name in European regions.
