The Swedish prime minister has said that his country is neither at war nor at peace as he announced that Sweden would be sending armed forces into the Baltic Sea for the first time as part of increased surveillance efforts amid a spate of suspected sabotage of undersea cables.

The country announced it will contribute up to three warships and a surveillance aircraft to a Nato effort to monitor critical infrastructure and Russia’s “shadow fleet” as the alliance tries to guard against sabotage of underwater infrastructure.

I think anyone familiar with the history of the region would disagree with the statement that 'this is the first time that Sweden has sent armed forces into the Baltic sea'.

How very . . . neutral of them.

They are a Nato member since march?

And you are allowed to defend yourself! During ww2 Switzerland actively shot down both allied and axis planes that violated its airspace! Both sides even apologized to them on a semi-regular basis, as they often accidentally bombed their border towns

I'm just joking around, you're doing a good thing.

Tell my underwater cable... Hello.

I don't feel strongly, one way or the other

We’ve never been neutral.

During WWII we were neutral in the sense that we flip-flopped and assisted whichever side seemed to do best. We took in refugees, and we assisted the nazis. We fed Germany iron ore to feed its war machine, and let Germany transport troops to Narvik, Norway, via our railways.

On top of that, we were prominent within BS pseudoscientific fields like racial biology, eugenics, etc. We had plenty of "scientists" who were super into the übermensch aryan BS, the effects of which are felt even today. We got rid of the forced sterilisation of transpeople in 2013.

Sweden never was neutral.

aggressively ambivalent

LoL. Opponents hate this simple trick! Maneuver your military aggressively, while claiming neutrality, and they can’t retaliate!

Generations of neoliberal nepotism are ensuring the least qualified people will be leading the charge in WW3.

“Sweden does not jump to conclusions or accuse anyone of sabotage without very strong reasons. The work continues and the national security council is updated on an ongoing basis,” he said. “But we are not naive either. The security situation and the fact that strange things happen time and time again in the Baltic Sea also lead us to believe that hostile intent cannot be ruled out. “There is little evidence that a ship would accidentally and without noticing it, drag an anchor with 300 metres of chain for over 100 kilometres, without understanding that it could cause damage.”

So "we cannot prove that they did it, but we cannot proof that they didn't either"? Also it's idiotic. A ferryboat once sinked in Belgium because they forgot to close the door.

No longer, he said, is Sweden a “blue-eyed idealist on the sidelines”, but instead had become “a realist in the centre of events”.

LOL They're blue-eyed because they forced-sterilized non-whites until 2013. Idealists indeed

Some bullshit warmongering propaganda from a bunch of fascists.
