Maybe I'm blazed off my rocker, but isn't that an approximate definition you'd get from a biology prof. if they're in a hurry? I swear I heard something like that in one genetics class many moons ago. (I know the actual quote is probably wrong, but the rest is meh ok yeah sure.)

[–] dragonfucker 7 points 1 hour ago

Embryos can't produce gametes. Everyone is agender now.

[–] yozul@beehaw.org 8 points 4 hours ago

I guess the nicest thing I could say about this is that I'm glad that if they're going to be evil, at least they're bad at it.

YOU KNOW WHO I WORRY ABOUT COMING INTO WOMEN'S BATHROOMS, CONSERVATIVES?

CIS MEN.

I HAVE LITERALLY NEVER HAD A TRANS WOMAN MAKE ME FEEL UNSAFE IN THERE. BUT I HAVE HAD CIS MEN FOLLOW ME IN AND ATTEMPT ASSAULT.

MEN DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH THE CONVOLUTED STEPS OF TRANSITIONING TO GAIN ACCESS TO WOMEN'S BATHROOMS, YOU FUCKING IDIOTS

MAYBE ADDRESS THAT FIRST? NO???

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 17 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

They believe that anyone can claim they're a woman now and that's it. And once it's done they can just walk into women's bathrooms. They're just telling on themselves, projecting on trans people. They're just sex obsessed freaks, all of them.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 7 points 4 hours ago

I know. I was raised in a fundie church. I did not escape unscathed. They're fucked up perverts.

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I've said that if I was wealthy, I would force legislation that was trans friendly by (as a cis woman) going into women's bathrooms in Congress, standing on toilets, and staring at women.

Women's bathrooms don't have urinals! There's no reason for anyone to be afraid of anyone seeing anything in there, unless they stand on toilets, and Im fully of the opinion that the gender of the person doing that has nothing to do with how creepy it is!!

Maybe if you're actually worried, all bathrooms should be, I dunno, gender neutral with full doors that close all the way? For maximum safety?

And I believe nothing can get that point across quite like demonstrating that I, as an almost middle aged, fat woman who looks like I could safely run for a Rwpublican seat, standing on toilets and staring at people.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

They made a bathroom at my university that’s gender neutral with stalls that are fully ceiling to floor with no gaps in the door.

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 5 hours ago

And this is how it should be everywhere!

I recommend everyone visit the DMV as soon as possible to change their license. It's an order from the commander in chief.

Now that I think of it: every DMV should be only be able to issue licenses with a female designation. Facts and law suites don't care about your feelings, snow flakes.

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 152 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Since there is insufficient cell differentiation at conception to produce any reproductive cells, does that mean that according to the white house, all people are legally non-binary now?

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 60 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

Female gametes are expressed first, so we've all been forced to be women

[–] Windex007@lemmy.world 25 points 7 hours ago

Are they expressed AT CONCEPTION?

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Who would have thought that Trump would be the first female president of the United States

[–] dragonfucker 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Actually, he's the first agender president. Embryos don't produce any gametes at conception. The idea that embryos are all female is a myth spread by people who don't believe in nonbinary sex.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 1 points 10 minutes ago

They would be the better pronoun in this instance then.

[–] deus@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago
[–] elfpie@beehaw.org 15 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

A little more seriously, we in fact start as non-binary instead of as female as it's usually said. How nobody said that before?

[–] dragonfucker 2 points 1 hour ago

Big Gender Binary is suppressing the narrative so that people don't realise they used to be agender.

[–] rickdg@lemmy.world 35 points 7 hours ago

“You know what we mean!”

So we’re back to gender being a social construct then.

[–] arisunz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

when the fascists accidentally forcefem all of america:

[–] Walk_blesseD@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

*neuter

Embryos don't produce gametes of any type.

[–] arisunz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

Let me have this damn

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Walk_blesseD@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

Alright then, take your pills, Alice.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 23 points 7 hours ago

I'm no biologist, but I'm pretty sure nobody produces gametes at conception. If you want to be pedantic, oocytes form before birth, but actual sperm and eggs don't show up till puberty (feel free to correct me).

Now, I would LOVE if we don't assign gender till puberty, but I still don't like the method.

[–] GrilledCheese@lemmy.blahaj.zone 89 points 9 hours ago (4 children)

So we’re all female. Neat!

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 23 minutes ago

Alright, I'll keep my promise. All the homies can hit it.

[–] dragonfucker 1 points 1 hour ago

No, embryos don't produce eggs.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 12 points 7 hours ago

I've always wondered what it's like.

Turns out, (according to the US government) I was experiencing it all along.

Republicans showing once again their cognitive prowess.

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 44 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

What about people who produce neither?

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 42 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

They usually handwave and claim "they don't count" because they can't reproduce, assuming that somehow means they can be ignored.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 15 points 7 hours ago

i don't think embryos produce any reproductive cells right away so that handwave would have to cover... everyone

Maybe I'm a late bloomer but I started producing reproduce cells long after conception

Is... is that the actual wording?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 24 points 8 hours ago (1 children)
[–] jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org 39 points 8 hours ago (4 children)

Holy shit. Surely those who drafted this realize the importance of wording in legal documents. What an egregious error.

[–] batmaniam@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Fuck you I'm a woman owned business now and also my DMV can't issue liscences designated male without proof of.... exogenesis? Parthogenisis? Some kind of nobel winning genesis?

[–] jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Um. I am a trans woman and this deeply affects me as well. I believe you misread my intention here. What I said was far from a compliment.

[–] batmaniam@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

ah shit. Bad wording. I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to come off that way, just upset and didn't mean to minimize. I can't do much, but I can be a pain in the ass at the DMV tomorrow and force a case. Not much blowback on someone like me.

[–] dragonfucker 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Good news for you: embros don't produce gametes at all. Everyone is now legally agender. You can refuse to issue female licences too.

[–] batmaniam@lemmy.world 1 points 40 minutes ago

I don't get to refuse anything. I'm just complying with an order, or my state is saying, on record, they refuse to comply. All I can do is say the facts. Facts don't care about your feelings.

[–] jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Ah, it's all good :) I understand your meaning now.

[–] batmaniam@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

thanks. sorry. I am upset an amount beyond the right I have, but also have the responsibility, to be.

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Why would you think that? These lines were written by fascists to appeal to morons. Proper wording only matters for those of us that live in reality.

[–] verdare@beehaw.org 1 points 22 minutes ago* (last edited 21 minutes ago) (1 children)

Honestly, a part of me is wondering if this is a case of malicious compliance. Like, did one of these evil motherfuckers offload the task of drafting this onto someone with a human soul?

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 1 points 16 minutes ago

i was literally just thinking that! it feels like some trolling staffer(s) with a knowledge of biology got a jab in.

It’s the gamete crowd, but adapted for the crowd that can’t spell “gamete”.
