Probably watched online instead

[–] socsa@piefed.social 17 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I actually unplugged the TVs in the gym

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Why the fuck were they on that channel?

[–] Halosheep@lemm.ee 4 points 1 hour ago

My local gym had all the tvs near the treadmills set to various political news entertainment stations (fox, CNN, etc.).

I typically sat in front of fox and let the ragebait fuel my running. It's interesting how emotions can make you exercise better.

[–] Pringles@lemm.ee 3 points 2 hours ago

He didn't say it on which channel it was.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 hour ago

Don't worry, trump will lie about this too

So the numbers are actually quite a bit lower. All news agencies fluff their numbers, until tax time.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 21 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

Is that a malnourished child's hand?

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 1 points 43 minutes ago

I instinctively looked to see if there was a child hand stuck in his teeth.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

There's a reason he was called the Short Fingered Vulgarian

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Maybe that's the hand that colored the face orange?

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 18 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

We watched just to see if we needed to throw the bug-out bag in the car and go.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Hey just a word of advice, if shit hits the fan unless there is an immediate threat its generally better to stay in place. Even if folks dont know you they may know of ypur car, house, general sounds and what not which will possibly make them more likely to offer aid if needed. Also folks are gonna be a lot more wary of outsiders in times of trouble.

[–] AndyMFK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Did you throw the bug-out bag in the car and go? You can't leave us hanging like that

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 2 points 3 hours ago

Nah, I wouldn't be on Lemmy if we had ;)

[–] Metz@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

As a German, I can say that some more left-leaning like-minded friends would be very welcome here.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

We're strongly considering West Europe. We have a few contacts there that might alleviate the move. I've been holding out because I don't believe in running from Nazis, and I'm still conflicted about it. I know that any meaningful action I could take would land me in jail forever, or worse, and I don't want my kids to get the boxcars. It might be better for my family to just immigrate.

I'd love to immigrate to South America, but it looks like it's a bit more difficult for us than West Europe, interestingly.

[–] Metz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I can understand if you don't want to give up your homeland. I would only leave Germany as an absolute last resort either. Then i would probably try to flee up north to the Scandinavian countries.

But I have to say, looking at the situation in the States, without wanting to sound overly dramatic, there is a good chance to think it's already reached the point of no return and best is to gtfo now. I mean, at least from the outside perspective, it looks really really bad.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago

Thanks, the outside perspective is useful for breaking out of being the frog in the boiling pot. I'll look into it more seriously.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I don't speak German, can I still come?

[–] Metz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Of course! And i think German is not that difficult anyway. Since English is a Germanic language, it's relatively easy for many people who already know it to learn some German.

I'm afraid the main problem would be the housing crisis. e.g. i've been without my own place for over 2 years. Have to sleep on a couch at a relative's small appartement. I basically occupy the living room.

I hope this problem can be solved over the next years. Of course, the right-wingers promise exactly that. And their solution is “get everyone out who is not like us”.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I speak French, so many I can find a place on the border! The afd's solution won't work though.

[–] Metz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Oh, i had a very nice french neighbour at my old place. She was singing french chanson in a café i was a regular in. There was also a Franco-German friends' association that met there from time to time.

Especially in southern Germany (but actually almost everywhere), French or French-speaking people are quite widely represented and very welcome!

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 5 points 3 hours ago

Nice try, fed boy

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 92 points 11 hours ago (5 children)

Anyone else not only not watch, but actively avoided any possibility of even catching a glimpse of it?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 hours ago

I tried. It was the Nazi salute that broke through for me. I just couldn't ignore it... I didn't actually see it until watching the rerun of Monday's Daily Show last night, but I saw the still shots.

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

I only found out about Nazi Space Karen's antics cuz of the memes.

[–] TrippaSnippa@lemm.ee 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I would rather smear human shit in my eyes than watch it.

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Actually watching it would be the equivalent

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 13 points 7 hours ago

I tried, but couldn't avoid seeing a specific two seconds of it...

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 37 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (3 children)

If I hear his droning groggly voice going off about some fake shit, I usually snap and tell whoever to shut that shit off. It’s unbearable. The guy sounds how I imagine anyone would after a 40+ years of Quarter Pounders and Diet Coke, he’s probably way over his fair share in carbon emissions from his diet alone.

I thought I could tolerate reading quotes of him but it’s a mess every time. Whatever schools he attended failed him greatly.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I feel like I'm being mansplained to by the stupidest man in existence. Which works since apparently Trump's executive order makes me a woman now.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

This really is the perfect way to put it, and I feel like it even comes from a similar place of "I'm better than you so I know better than you" smarmyness.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

And it’s even worse when he reads from the autocue. It’s like he talks himself to sleep, he loses energy after speaking more than 2 bigly words in a row. That’s probably why he always interjects himself with some dumb catchphrase to wake himself up.

Maybe Musk paid a farm to increase the views.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 20 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Willingly having to look at that Orange piece of shit. No thank you.

[–] theedqueen@lemmy.world 14 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Also listening to his voice. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. But worse.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago

Nails on a chalkboard just sends shivers through me. The mandarin mussolini's speach makes me a threat to my environment and myself.

[–] towerful@programming.dev 138 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

I saw that shit on Disney plus.
Immediately cancelled my sub.
Kids can have Bluey from the warships on the ocean 🦜☠️.

I'd like to support content creators. They work hard, deliver their dream. And early on, a large delivery network is desirable! But if that provider enshitifies beyond my threshold, they are dead to me.

So set sail!

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I saw that shit on Disney plus.

What, and I mean this will all my soul, the actual fuck?

I don't give a single wet shit who the president is, why in the chocolate covered fuck is a streaming media content platform pushing that shit? Really glad I never gave them any money, and the subscription we had always a friend's.

[–] Itsamelemmy@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

They also live streamed the debates, so this isn't unusual for Disney. I think they have some live channels as well, so it probably falls under that portion of the service.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 16 points 7 hours ago

Hulu advertised this today. Like... What the fuck? How much did the oompa loopa pay you, Disney? They know we don't want to watch this.
