It's also possible to play PS5 whilst being to ill to work. In civilised countries, you can (and should) take a couple of days off for minor illnesses - don't spread that shit at work

Yes, I’m on my second week of sick leave in Germany, struggling to get rid of some virus & laryngitis that I got on a work trip, so now I have to rest and not speak at all.

Currently playing TLOU on my PS Portal. It feels “wrong”, but then I realize I’d rather be healthy and back to work (and also do more productive personal things that I can’t now, like go to the gym).

I forgot Sony made that. Why not get a Steam Deck, or one of the alternatives? The portal doesn't have any storage, and if you have stick drift you have to buy another.

I would assume it's because they would like to play PlayStation games, not PC games.

[–] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But isn't just cloud gaming? Which needs a solid connection... Unlike every other handheld system, that has the games on storage, or cartridge? I don't understand cloud gaming.

If you're living in a home with modern wi-fi and fiber Internet, the latency isn't much worse than a typical 4K TV outside of its built-in game mode. For many, many titles on console, this type of input lag is acceptable.

Admittedly I know the product isn't very popular, but for those who enjoy PS games, it's a pretty neat device.

Personally I just keep stuff on my PS5 and if I can't be in my living room I guess I'll wait to play :-)

It helps that I also own a Steam Deck

[–] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

Ok, that makes sense. I just own only a PC which has everything I need, no tv. The only thing I would love to have is a steam deck.

I think it's at least somewhat common in non-US countries. At least from what I've seen.

[–] Mr_Blott@feddit.uk 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

That's why they specified "civilised" countries, and not the US

It's a favourite dig nowadays :)

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Haha. Good point. Glad I'm not there, or from there.

That beep is so distinct. I would recognize it more than the actual startup tune lol

[–] DerArzt@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Startup tune? LOL I don't even remember what that sounds like for the PS5, but boy do I remember the beep.

[–] Twinklebreeze@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

When my 2yo son wants to watch Lion King or some other physical movie he beeps like the ps5 at me.

[–] Ten_Pound_Dump@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In the latest update, it added a setting to turn that beep off. It's glorious.

[–] NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Then don’t turn off the beep?

[–] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

I like the beep but turning it to the lowest volume setting soothed my soul

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Why does that PS5 has an XBox controller?

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 7 points 3 days ago

Don't kinkshame!

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

Either multiple consoles (although having a PS5 and Xbox SX seems a bit redundant) or they use an adapter.

[–] radiohead37@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If only my PTO wasn't deducted every time I take a sick day.

[–] Venator 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oof, where is that legal? Usa?

[–] DerArzt@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Man the US doesn't guarantee sick leave or PTO. It's not great.

[–] radiohead37@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 days ago

Yes, it is legal in the US.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 11 points 3 days ago

It’s every persons human right to chuck a sickie.

I'm in a situation where I work only three days a week and get by just fine. As much as I love not having to work 5 days a week, I'm not really feeling "free". Mostly because I still can't find to do stuff.
