Hell, even great Britain did more than the US historically. Justifying neither. Just showing how naive and likely young they are. Russia had impressive numbers up in Siberia. We may never fully understand China's score. Good states are the exception, not the rule.

But this is some kind of edgelord "west bad" ignorance. And I say this as a first nations descendant who's family suffered o. the trail of tears. The sins of the US are copious but nothing special among their peers.

Yeah, it's one thing to say that the US flag represents any number of unspeakable horrors - there are any number of unspeakable horrors performed under it, and, for that matter, by the explicit fiat of those associated with it. That's pretty indisputable, and if someone wishes to characterize the flag as its representation, that's absolutely within the realm of reasonable arguments.

It's another thing entirely to earnestly argue that the fucking Nazis weren't as bad as the US, and that the US is unrivaled in its atrocities. The US is far from the best state of the modern era - the US is also far from the worst, though that, admittedly, is a bit of damnation by faint praise.

But the Great Satan has to be the biggest evil in the world, or else they might have to think about their opinions for a moment.

Critical support for Comrade Hitler, one supposes.

US has historically been the least bad option outside of all the large hegemonic countries.

Russian's authoritarianism and genocidal imperialism survived three economic system over ~100 years.

China had killed untold millions during the early years of CCP rule and they continue to engage in genocidal imperialism.

Religion has caused more death, grief, pain, destruction, and repression than any other cause in history, so the best symbol would be a combination of every religion's predominant symbol (cross, star of david, moon and star, a dharmachakra, etc).

I mean, it's wild because I agree with the premise. In modern times the US has caused chaos throughout the world. To say it has done the most in history is some strong recency bias. Then they lambasted me for bringing up "ancient history" like WW2 while they brought up the colonial period...

most dem voters arnt even Liberal in the sense of thier beliefs anyways, it gears towards republican, or center right. even in our city which is deep blue in the west, we have a ton of "transplants" from other states that bring that have pretty conservative views on the down low.

tankies think too much like conservatives do, thier "other" enemy is one or the other in a unified fashion.

Late reply, but I just wanna say: Americans helped out a lot during my home country's defence against japanese imperialism, and in 1945, the US swiftly put an end to the atrocities throughout Asia (which had been happening for a decade, or probably longer), committed by the imperialist japanese army, by using the US's new weapon (I do not condone the civillian deaths involved btw, but there were no alternatives). Sure, Americans have their own dark history, but the USA is nowhere near as bad as the literal nazis. Americans helped save my homeland from total destruction. (And yes, USSR also kinda helped, so I guess kudos for that, but then... later on they kinda were trying to force China into the USSR, so... that ain't cool...)

Yes there's a difference between the treatment of the jews by the Germans to any other genocide and inhuman treatment in the world. It was the industrialisation and the sheer scale. The death of all jews was the goal not an unintended but acceptable collateral. And the Nazis did their level best to make killing as efficient cost and labour wise as possible.

That to this day is unprecedented to this day. Even saying this is coming dangerously close to relevation of the holocaust which is a crime in Germany - and for good reason. The Nazis for this fact alone were not demonized, a lot of them acted so mind-boggenly inhuman that demon is the most fitting word for them.

and how will your wife react when she hears that you spend hours, every single day, creating account after account after account, trolling the same three or so people relentlessly?

really, consider. you have to use a vpn, find an instance, use a fake email, make a fake password, make a fake username, find the threads you don't like, read the threads, and then comment a bunch of shit.

then for us, it's a click of a button to remove all of that.

In terms of time spent, you lose out considerably

As an example, Antiyanks here sent me well over a thousand DMs because I said something that pissed him off and/or made fun of him. You know what I did? Blocked his account. All 1000+ messages gone in an instant, and I didn't read a single one of them before doing so. All that time and effort he spent was completely and utterly wasted by a single click. Same for any thread he spams, just a single click of the block button and all those messages are gone like the wind.
