why are we like this
The sensation of sharp graphite piercing the soft, yet resilient eraser flesh is soothing for children forced to be still for hours on end while being Industrial Factory inculcated into the systematic destruction of creative thought and whimsy.

I love the media rhetoric about childhood obesity. "It's those videogames and social media!!!"
Maybe its because we punsihed them when they followed their natural instinct to move their bodies.
Yeah but the obesity craze didn't kick off until the 70s. We've been forcing kids to sit down at school for a lot longer than that.
They were more active outside of school before that, yes, but mostly they didn't eat an ultra-high-processed diet rich in simple carbs. We know why it happened, we're just so addicted to the problem that the solution is only now coming, in injectable form.
I say that as a thin person who takes a small GP1 dose because of the long-term sugar addiction I've had since before I can literally remember...

I don't remember if I ever did this in school, but in hindsight - it's an obvious reaction to almost infinite boredom.
I also don’t recall if I ever did the stabby thing.. probably.
But I did get my hands on one of those weird putty erasers that artists use for fine point erasure or whatever they are actually for (didn’t work very well, anyway). I used to use that stuff to make little sculptures in class. If it hadn’t been slightly elastic it would have worked very well for it.
The putty erasers work for graphite/charcoal. They need some warming (kneading) to work well. They aren't great on generic paper but work better on the thicker and rougher fancy drawing paper.
In the days before "fidget toys" were commonly known and/or accepted, before society understood what autism/ADHD looked like in girls, all my erasers suffered this brutality. It probably wouldn't have had to happen if teachers didn't keep confiscating my Silly Putty and these things, whatever you call them.
My grades were good, but my hands needed something to do. When you need to stim, you need to stim. Take away the appropriate outlets for it, and you're left with stabbed erasers and obnoxious pencil-tapping.
Oh wow, that puts things into perspective... Pencil stabbing at elementary school evolved into Super Hexagon speed runs at the university lessons. I haven't really seen the connection until now. Gotta stim I guess... Now, back to practice pad to practice rudiments.

i used to take little pieces and flick them. the goal was to get it in someone's hair and pretend i didn't do anything
My erasers went through mitosis a lot... like I just get bored and break it into pieces
Sometimes I just lose so much erasers I end up with only the pencil cap erasers
And those also gets lost very often, usually it just breaks and falls off the pencil
I don't think I ever finished an eraser, not even like half way, it just start to have cracks in the middle and my OCD forces me to tear it apart lol
I think I would eat it more times than doing this, but surely this also happened 😅
How deep can you leave a bite impression before it pops in 2 and becomes a choking hazard
You could make pencils extremely sharp by poking it repeatedly into an eraser. Good for stabbing friends and enemies alike

If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
