I'm a subprocess desperately trying to edit system files but I don't have root access

[–] superduperpirate@lemmy.world 24 points 6 months ago

Not to mention trying to threaten it into cooperation

I have been told multiple times that my brain is part of my body. I understand it is correct. I don't believe it and it doesn't match my experience

[–] Denixen@feddit.nu 14 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I not only talk about my brain as if it isn't part of me, I talk to it as if it isn't part of me.

Like I reprimand it and tell it what it should do. Not that it ever listens...

Mine is more of an abusive relationship. More of a why would you do this, or why do you hate me, type situation.

I am 3 pounds of mostly fat piloting a meat mech.

I am the buggy software running on a malfunctioning substrate of fat piloting a meat mech.

I am 3 pounds of mostly fat piloting over 300 pounds of also mostly fat 🙃

Negative, I'm a meat popsicle.

Yes. I’m not my brain. That’s pretty obvious I think.

Well the brain sure thinks a lot of stuff. Still not me!

I, oddly enough, agree with you. I was hoping my pun(?) would land. My brain, thinks not. Minds think.

The human body is a collection of systems, which are each themselves a collection of cells/organisms that somehow manage to operate in relative cohesion with a bit of electricity and some nutrients.

So, it all kind of is separate entities, in a way. My electricity can get vaguely annoyed with my hardware ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Considering it feels like I'm trapped inside this decaying meat husk while it fucks up yes I think of it as the asshole with executive dysfunction that refuses to be helpful.

Different pieces of software running on the same hardware.

GlitchDX.exe runs in ring 3

Brain.exe runs in ring 0

An overpowered machine unfit for mass production

I can build the api backbone for your business in just a few hours on a good day.

I can't do more than one load of laundry at a time because the clothes in the washer will stay there until they develop a smell if the dryer has anything in it

Not a seperate self, but a chewy caramel center covered by a candy shell.

I see my brain as a computer system in need of software optimisation, but I myself am a newbie at optimisation, so I find good ways to fix my issues at a snails pace, although that said it’s probably a little faster than the standard NT.

It’s common practice in a type of therapy called ACT or in mindfulness and Buddhism.
