Since I am struggling to find real treatment medication where I live, I looked up natural alternatives. Found some who speak good about saffron as having good effects. I just started taking it 2 days ago. Has anybody tried it for an extended period?

Everyone is clowning on OP but there have been some studies done that suggest there may be some benefits from saffron in mood disorders and possibly ADHD. It's not strong evidence but it seems to be taken seriously in medical circles (i.e. not just dismissed as home remedy bs). There seems to be some mechanism for it effecting neurochemistry.

OP, it definitely won't have anywhere near the efficacy of proper medication but as you say its worth a try to see if you get some benefit. It seems like it can at least help with sleep regulation, if thats an issue. Let us know if you notice any effects over time.

I have been trying it for like 3 days now. Just raw saffron which means I don't have the right dosage yet. The study is about standardized saffron extract, while I am just using about 0.1 got regular saffron.

Bro can afford saffron?!?!

Saffron is about $3 per gram where I live. And I've seen a newish study saying we only need a dose between 0.5 to 0.88 grams of saffranal per day and get a good benefit.

Since it does not harm to eat a bit a saffron everyday, then why not? Even if it does not work, it would not hurt.

What's the mechanism? What substance in saffron is supposedly affecting dopamine release in the brain in a way that is beneficial?

So there might possibly be something somewhere there but nobody knows what. Alright, but not exactly reason enough for me to buy saffron in bulge now. Thank you for the link.

As OP said, its a desperation move because they can't get other meds. Nobody is suggesting people go off their meds with this.

You can waste years trying bullshit remedies from the Internet.

There have been legitimate studies on this. There isn't strong evidence but it isn't dismissed as internet bs.

I am already wasting years taking nothing at all.

Not bullshit remody from internet. It has at least one study on about 50 people. Not very confident about it. That is why I am asking.

Anyways, in absence of real medicine why not try something harmless, that I am already using for cooking anyways?

I read somewhere that even if you know a placebo is a placebo, it still has some effect. So it can't hurt. Saffron is one of the most expensive substances on the planet though so I feel like it might be good to try some other things.
