Iran’s newly appointed secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, said that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is strictly contingent upon Washington meeting Tehran’s core demands, including a complete halt to regional conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Tehran, Cong Peiwu, Rezaei emphasized that the strategic waterway will remain closed unless the United States changes its behavior and accepts Iran’s stipulated conditions, which have been communicated to Washington through intermediaries.

Rezaei reiterated that the U.S. must end its hostile policies, release frozen Iranian assets, and put an immediate end to ongoing wars across the region, specifically highlighting the conflicts in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Now that is an interesting play

Ah, so never.

This was always the most predictable end result of the US and Israel launching the Iran War.

[–] tyronenguyen@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Strait will open when there's peace in the middle east? Lol cmon be realistic

Wouldn‘t that be something. Peace in the Middle East thanks to this idiotic war, and trump would totally claim he did it.

Are we great yet?

Fair play. Israel pressured the US into this pointless war, so make the US pressure Israel out of those pointless wars.

Only, Israel is the one holding the cards and has Potus on a leash with blackmail from the Epstein honeypot. So we'll see how effective this is in truth...

Netanyahu is extending the war so that he won't be prosecuted in court for corruption. It's a classic from the dictator's playbook. Wage a war so your people get too distracted to look against your own incompetence and corruption. However, the war on Iran is backfiring on Bibi.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago

It's really upsetting to see how well that seems to work for Netanyahu, trump, and Putin...

Let's just hope it backfires enough

I dunno, I doubt that they have Epstein dirt on him.

Every single supporter of Trump shamelessly supports him no matter what.

Everyone who doesn't support Trump fully knows he's molested kids.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 6 days ago

I thought it was a well-known fact at this point that Epstein worked for mossad

Everyone - Pooty-poot, Saudis, Israel, China - they all have the videos. The most compromised predisent in the history of ever.

Not that his cult knows or cares despite everything being in the open.

Enough with the "Trump will TACO" nonsense, this is a genuinely scary moment for all of earth, Trump is too cowardly to back down.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No he is most certainly not too cowardly to back down. You serious?

He is going to skulk away quietly while global oil stocks deplete, and eventually it will hurt everyone else too much and so other countries will step in to clean up his mess.

[–] supersquirrel@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

Where is the evidence for Trump acting rationally about this?

[–] Rat_in_a_hat@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Curious on what's so scary about it for all of earth?

[–] supersquirrel@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh like we didn't cut off every path that lead anywhere else years ago. Grow up.

[–] Einskjaldi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Trump has to open the straight because of economic necessities and the coming election and Iran is willing to play hardball because they have a good chance if winning which they never really had come close to before.

[–] supersquirrel@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Trump does NOT have to act rationally and he rarely does.

They can't really surrender. There's no assurance they can trust after putting guns down.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"All of Earth" is certainly overselling it, but a whole lot of people do need the oil coming out of Hormuz, for fertilizer if nothing else.

I believe op might have been referring to the very real possibility of the snack trolly troll launching nukes at Iran and sparking off ww3

Oh I remember this game! The white phosphorous scene hit, and the part where you end up in the opening helicopter chase and one of the characters lampshades it is pretty great. The end speech where the antagonist finally sweeps away any pretense of a fourth wall? Shivers.
