I’m at the supermarket and my wife texts me “Where are you?”
I text back “I’m here. Where are you?”
She replies “I’m here too, why can’t I see you?”

Time, space, velocity... it's all relative.

Wherever you go, there you are.

[-] cattywampas@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

"There you are!"

"Do I know you?"

"No, but that's where you are, you're there!"

[-] TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

You must be mistaken. I'm here.

You can be there. Just not now.

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Now. You’re looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now

What happened to then?

We passed then.

When?

Just now. We’re at now now.

[-] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

But where will here be there?

Not anymore it's not. Back then, you were there. Before now. But now it's now, and you're here.

[-] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I can only be here, but I'm pretty sure that you are there.

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago

Actually I'm also here, but I don't see you.

[-] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

That's good news! Here I thought I wasn't all there, but now I find out I'm not there at all.

Short form horror:

He said, “There you are.” and the man he was talking to disappeared.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Isn't here just there without a t?

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

"You" in a physical sense, sure

Mentally? I can definitely not be here

[-] brownsugga@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Here and now is all there is

I got there in the end.

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I'm right there with ya on that one.

Ah, shit, that's a paradox. Now I'm not there with ya. :)

[-] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 1 points 2 weeks ago

I'm with you there

... wait, what

[-] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Where there is love, I'll be there

[-] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

When I feel blue in the night
And I need you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you
All I have to do is dream

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

I was over there. Now I am over here.

[-] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

"I have always been here."

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

No, you're not here. You're there. I am here and am always here.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

You can never see or hear what's happening right now, only what happened in the past.

Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
