Mexico is a country south of the United States, and many US immigrants are Mexicans, yet saying the word "Mexico" and calling something "Mexico" has become derogatory in California, so when and how did that happen?

That is not a California thing so much as an Orange County thing. California is not homogeneous and has some horrific neonazi enclaves. We call those shitholes Calibama. If you live in one, get out.

Is it really? I have never heard of this being used as a derogatory term in 13 years of living in the County of Los Angeles.

WTF are you talking about? Provide some actual proof that this is really happening first.

when the many racists in the USA felt they were protected by the child raping president

Do you think that "many US immigrants are Mexicans" means it's okay to just call any Central/South American thing you see Mexican?

Funnily enough, the word "California" is derogatory in other states

I was born and raised in Iowa but I’ve been living in California for 13 years now and whenever I visit family and friends elsewhere I’m always hearing it’s because they want to do some evil-ass shit and California is preventing them from doing so.

For example, Iowa is hellbent on not complying with California’s law on pigs’ cage sizes. They’d rather keep stacking animals up so they can’t even fucking move.

Or the plastic bag law, we’re apparently so evil here in California because we don’t want any more of these fucking “recyclable” (but never accepted for recycling) bags everywhere. Some lady gave me attitude driving into an Arizona gas station because I didn’t want a whole-ass bag for two items I could easily carry and she made sure I knew “you’re not in California anymore” — thank Jesus God I can use plastic bags again!!

Literally nobody I’ve met here has ever talked about or cared about your shit hole state. Maybe improve it instead of shitting on us.
