Don't waste good food for no reason.

A rope, on the other hand, is still good after being used once. Say, if you hang something. Or someone. Not that I' implying anything.

Noël Godin, the man who did that, just passed away some days ago
Respect to him.

this but the bomb pies from spongebob

[-] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

A pie to the face is a good reminder to the target that if some schlub can sneak a creamy pan past their security and shove it in their face, it would have been that much easier to sneak in a Saturday night special.

This method is best saved for those that may still be spooked away from the dark side.

For the others, Saturday Night is always on the menu.

Remind me please, the cake at Bill's face, did it change anything? How about "the cake" from Luigi Mangione, did this one change anything?

[-] marzhall@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Talk to a doctor or nurse - the ease with which insurance requests went through for at least a month afterward was comical.

I'm not sure about how things are now though, maybe more pie is needed

[-] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Despite it mostly functioning as a self serving tax write off, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation did some good stuff before the pie to the face wore off. I'm sure that's Some with an asterisk. It felt like they threw money at everything for a couple years in the 90s.

[-] psion1369@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It started conversations, but then they all stopped when arrests were made. Now if more people threw pies all the time, and did so anonymously, and at more targets, we might have a chance to change things. We can't just let one person take a stand and then take the fall while asking if it meant anything. It means something when the example is followed.

To everyone in this thread saying "I'd never do that, I don't want to get shot"

[-] 0x0@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

s/pie/brick/

[-] Tattorack@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Remember when we used to hang or behead powerful people we didn't like? Yeah, that wasn't just one time in France either.

[-] mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.de 198 points 3 days ago

Without exaggeration, doing this now (depending on the person) would risk life imprisonment for bioweaponry terrorism, or just getting shot

[-] Carl@anarchist.nexus 110 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yeah, pretty much. A large part of what made the face-pie so effective was simply the “we can still touch you” reminder. It’s a powerful message, because it reminds them that their bodyguards only need to fail once. It’s the old “you need to protect yourself every time, we only need to touch you once” thing. Which is why they’ve captured the courts and police, to deter attacks even when they aren’t under constant protection.

Sadly, the most prolific pie thrower recently died. He was an amazing iconoclast.

[-] Squirrelknight@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Man, why are all the GOOD 80 year olds dying while the worst 80 year old gets to keep ruining the world?

[-] tetris11@feddit.uk 15 points 2 days ago

One of his favorite targets was the French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, who was pied by Godin or one of his accomplices on at least seven occasions.

After checking out this Bernard guy, all I can say is: "good"

[-] gh0stcassette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 days ago

Cinderblocks would be more effective (for legal reasons this is a joke)

[-] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

You ever try to hide a cinder block in a cream pie!?

The first act of political violence in Australia was when PM Billy Hughes was struck by an egg that was thrown at him during a speech in favor of conscription.

The second act of political violence in Australia was when PM Hughes jumped into the crowd to throw hands with the egg-thrower.

Funny story, here in Sweden, our speaker of the parliament was visiting a school to speak. Someone threw a "banana or part of a banana". Bodyguards "aprehended" the boy until police arrived and the boy was interrogated at the police station.

The speaker then started a criminal suit against the boy (who was 16) with the charge of disorderly conduct. The damage was noted as, "a stained shirt".

According to the speaker, incidents like this could cause politicians to not want to speak at schools (oh no... how will the children cope?)

Anyway, people are calling him out as the clown he is. And i'd be very surprised if he gets to keep his post after our election (regardless of who wins)

We should bring that back, but with bricks instead of the pies.

[-] nullspace@lemmy.world 58 points 3 days ago

You do something like that today they'll try to put you away for 30 years on terrorism charges.

Someone chucked a milkshake at Nigel Farage a couple of years ago and got a 13-week suspended jail sentence for assault. Along with endless pearl-clutching from the right and Farage talking about how distressed he was.

Which is funny when you compared it to back in the 90s when someone threw an egg at John Prescott and he immediately punched them in the face lol.

I prefer bringing a guillotine to the meeting, like what happened in Salem during a council meeting with a data center CEO. Or Luigi style pie throwing, with bullets.
