You know who was motivated? Hitler. I bet everyone wished he stayed in his mom's basement painting back in the day.

[-] snoons@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago

Anon is depressed. Like, hellah depressed.

[-] steeznson@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago

Is that a female wojack or a teenage boy one with long hair/acne?

So no disability? Just "ugly" and "low IQ"?

Ugly is no barrier to success. And it's written too well to be from someone with an IQ so low that it holds them back.

Anon is probably just lazy or more likely scared of the leaving their comfort zone.

Real and pathetic.

[-] glimse@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Or....depressed for so long they started believe it. It's 4chan so if it's even real, that's way more likely

[-] Jolteon@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I've found that "you're not stupid, you're just lazy" applies to most people who claim to be stupid.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 5 days ago

Having met genuinely stupid people I wish they had this level of self-awareness and would stay out of the way. Generally speaking though they insert themselves into every possible situation.

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

yep. this is why when stupid people are around you... the best thing you can do is just leave.

because you can't fix them, and they will just drag you down to their level and take it as a personal insult if you dare suggest a smarter way to do things.

[-] Varesti@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

Hey, don't listen to them OP, I think you're fully capable of being stupid AND lazy.

[-] weeeeum@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

To me it kinda sounds like covert narcissism "I'm so awful dumb pathetic and terrible I won't ever accomplish anything" and uses it as an excuse to be a lazy pos. A lot like boogie2988. Does it to drum up empathy, to enable his lazyness and uselessness.

[-] hairyfeet@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 days ago

Predicament is not a word used by someone with low iq. Nor structured sentences.

[-] FluorideMind@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago

Sounds like adhd to me. You ever busted your ass working hard at a job and when finished, your boss it's just disappointed in the whole thing? Imagine that's your entire life. You start to avoid doing anything.

[-] currycourier@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

I mean it does make some things more difficult, but its more of a speed bump than a barrier. And a lot of the time decently attractive people will convince themselves they're ugly cause it helps justify their inaction.

~~Ugly and low IQ~~ Severe Depression

I hope anon gets some help. It's hard to find your way out of that bleakness once you're there. I speak from experience, and it IS possible to get better. Self worth takes a lifetime to build if your parents didn't make the fundament for it in you. It's still worth working on it.

It's okay to not be the perfect adult, when you have barely learned what adulthood is. It's okay to be a late bloomer. It's okay to be uncertain. It's okay to do life at your own pace. But don't let the bleakness win. No matter how shite it gets, it won't last forever and you will find the way back from that pit. Even if it happens at such a slow and sluggish pace, that you don't even notice the improvements from day to day.

I wish I could give anon a hug. Been there too, buddy.

[-] tobebannedbygaymods@lemmy.zip 7 points 6 days ago

Damn , Can relate bro

[-] solidheron@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Yeah seems like you actually have to suffer to do something just because it can be marginally useful

> on 4chan

> not doing anything absurdly creepy, racist or disgusting

> I'm seriously the most pathetic person on this board.

This person is one of the least pathetic people on that board.

[-] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 68 points 1 week ago

mfw i have depression

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.ca 49 points 1 week ago

Painful to watch young people fall victim to these ideas that so harm their self-esteem.

[-] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 37 points 1 week ago

I feel like there's only so much blame you can put onto a single person for their situation before you wonder what the hell is going on with their parents/guardians?

Because someone in their mid-20s having no basic life skills cannot be blamed purely on Anon. Either their parents are neglecting them, or coddling them to the point of sabotage.

Having said all that, if Anon is articulate enough to write all of this - then they've got a high enough IQ to at the very least try to do something about their situation, even if its just doing volunteer work for a while to build up some basic skills.

[-] Eq0@literature.cafe 33 points 6 days ago

Yeah, this reads more like depression and self-sabotage then stupidity.

[-] avocado@programming.dev -2 points 6 days ago

I don't get why it is parents responsibility if they are 24 and dont have any disabilities. Isn't it only parents jobs to take care of you till you are 18.

[-] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 13 points 6 days ago

Being a parent is a life long job that you chose when you had a kid, so that latter take is wild.

But in any case, even if I agreed with you, do you not believe parents have a responsibility to teach their children basic life skills? You brought a kid into the world, you should at the very least teach it how to look after itself.

[-] avocado@programming.dev -1 points 5 days ago

Honestly your take feels wild to me as well. Sure you should teach your kids how to take care themselves, but at some point they are an adult and have to take the responsibility for their own lives.

If people don't have to take personal responsibility what stops them from taking advantage of it? Like you could have the best parents, but claim they messed you up, so refuse to work and leech of them for the rest of your life.

[-] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 2 points 5 days ago

Yes, I do agree that you have a level of personal responsibility towards yourself - and that you owe it to yourself to make the best of the hand you're dealt.

But turning 18 doesn't suddenly absolve your parents of their failings. If they failed to teach Anon the basic life skills that would help them to be a proper member of society, then that is still their failure - even if it is a failure being further exacerbated by Anon themselves.

As @some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world said, your last paragraph negates itself...

A good parent would've forced Anon to learn those skills, and wouldn't just stand-by going "they're an adult now, not my problem" - nor would they coddle them and allow them to be a NEET. Both are forms of neglectful parenting, as I said its a lifetime job.

[-] avocado@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I just wanted to highlight the personal responsibility part. Otherwise I agree completely.

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Having "the best parents" would preclude that possibility, though. Your "what-if" is a non-sequitur, it doesn't follow.

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

no it doesn't.

plenty of shitty people i know had wonderful parents. and some great people had shitty ones.

it's a matter of the choices the person makes.

your parents don't determine what choices you make. you do.

your parents offer you a framework you can accept or reject. and plenty of people reject their parents framework.

[-] avocado@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Each person is the result of their genetics, upbringing, friend circle, life experiences etc. Having the best parents doesn't guarantee you turning out well.

Also nothing personal but using big words like this when you can express it much simpler, comes off very pretentious.

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

because people are need someone to blame. they can't blame themselves.

hence why you have 30+ year old children who blame 'society' for their failings, or their parents, or a ANYONE but themselves.

and if you suggest hey... maybe you can learn and work and fix these things... they don't say 'oh yeah i will do that'.

they go 'fuck you YOU HAVE NO EMAPTHY AND ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON'.

because... their entire identity and meaning in life is being a irresponsible piece of shit person who blames everyone else.

[-] avocado@programming.dev 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

On one hand I understand showing empathy and highlighting that people might be going through mental issues, abuse. However laziness and lack personal responsibility should always be considered as possible factors as well.

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

you missed the cultural memo, in 2026 you're considered abusive if you think personal responsibility is a thing. nothing is anyone's personal fault, ever, anymore.

[-] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 week ago

The post itself says not as dumb as you think you are.

[-] sidebro@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Right, now they just have to want to change their situation and they will be all right. That's the harder part, but probably always doable.
