It has already dissipated and is no longer a tropical storm.

[-] DBNinja@piefed.zip 45 points 1 month ago

She knew the collateral damage it would cause!

[-] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 29 points 1 month ago

Dolly died to stop Hurricane Dolly ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 30 points 1 month ago

Be on the lookout for Hurricane Jolene.

[-] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 17 points 1 month ago
[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Does it? I'm not seeing it.

[-] lemmylump@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

It's now just a wave with needed rain that's going to shower the Caribbean.

Dolly is bringing the good rain, like the Saint she is.

[-] raman_klogius@ani.social 6 points 1 month ago

it's not her time yet. she'll come back someday.

[-] Sibshops@feddit.cl 56 points 1 month ago

You don't need a hurricane to believe in his great noodlly appendage. ๐Ÿ

[-] f314@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago

Ramen to that!

[-] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

Trump would probably try to nuke it if he thought his place was under threat.

[-] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 1 month ago

I think he would simply redirect the storm with a magic marker

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

Because he had to be talked out of that before right?

[-] e8CArkcAuLE@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago

theoretically, could you nuke a hurricane and destroy it?

[-] multifariace@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Theoretically it could strengthen it and make it radioactive. Please don't. Florida actually has a lot of value when you can look past the hate and politics of too many residents.

[-] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

We could do with a lot more "return to nature" in florida

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Nuclear alligators would also solve the horrible person problem.

[-] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 3 points 1 month ago

๐ŸŽถ Interior nuclear alligator, I drive a Chevrolet movie theater ๐ŸŽถ

[-] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Not even a little bit. The amount of energy in even our most powerful thermonuclear device is piddling compared to that contained within a hurricane. All you'd do is stir up a bunch of fallout and distribute it all over the place.

[-] kboy101222@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Spreading nuclear fallout all over Florida? Don't tempt me

[-] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

It doesn't have to match the power. It just has to F up the storms rotation enough that it disrupts itself. I don't know if it could be enough, but it certainly doesn't need to equal the power of the storm.

[-] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

The shockwave might mess with the rotation. Or it would still be to little to make a difference. I'm no expert.

[-] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 19 points 1 month ago

Guy would probably just get richer via insurance fraud

[-] MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Drop in the bucket compared to his cryptocoin and stock trades

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago

Meanwhile, in the Pacific... Only 6 spinning wind thingies...

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 7 points 1 month ago

Brought to you by windy.com... Windy.yeah!

[-] troybot@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago

Hurricane? Trivago

[-] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

And 13 leaves, apparently. Odd data point to track but somebody has to do it I guess.

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

She has become more powerful than in our wildest imaginations!

[-] mechoman444@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

As an atheist that's way too much coincidence.

[-] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Nah. But, it would be a happy coincidence.

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah I don't think that tropical storm is actually Dolly Parton's spirit either. Good looking out.

[-] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

You donโ€™t already believe in our savior, Dolly?!

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I really miss her. Not like, in a direct way, it just felt good sharing planet with her. It's not that we hung out or anything, but just being on the same Earth as her was sharing something with her and be blessed by her presence.

There are a few others and... They're very old. And I'm afraid.

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

~~Perry sure hurricanes get a new name and don't keep the tropical storm name.~~

Turns out I'm wrong.

[-] lividweasel@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Perry is wrong

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

the storm, once named, keeps the name no matter its intensity

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Glad you weren't 100% confident because you are definitely wrong
