Top: Me explaining the feature to other engineers

Bottom: Product management explaining their feature idea to engineering

Bottom seems like a typical user request, made by at least 3 different departments of the customer not really agreeing on how things work day to day on their site.

Plot twist: this ”super urgent” request was actually never needed (as shown by usage metrics).

Too relatable, I checked the NGINX logs of a commerical service some time ago and a decent chunk was just Uptime Kuma

With AI the developer doesn't know any of the code anymore.

I like AI as a last resort for problems and I love it as a fancy auto line complete but man has it made everything in this industry less fun overall. I don't want to use "agents" to program, I just want to write code:(

That's a lot of vibing. Typically for work stuff I'm directing and reviewing everything. (Not always though. I certainly vibe tests a little more.)

This. Llm surely can generate any number of lines that seem to be a working code, that does not mean it will work at all. And sure as hell it is not to be given freedom in making architecture choices

And then there are management devs that throw out half the code then complain it doesnt work anymore

I got nostalgic because that lady is on an English book cover I used to study in middle school (I forgot the title of the book tho)
