I was referring to my previous post about Miez feeling pretty bad about getting some grass stuck in her throat as well as her ongoing bad digestion caused by the sheer amount of grass she is eating, which has way improved following my restrictions on her outside time.
TBH I'm pretty sick of her flatulances and diarrhea all because she won't stop eating grass. And I don't mean just a bit here and there. She just eats a whole bunch wherever she is. I tried training her to only feed on the soft stuff, but to no avail.
We had a dog that started to eat huge amounts of grass outside after spending too much time with a lamb. He once ate a bunch of grass laying on the field to dry to become hay. It continued to ferment inside of him until he started to projectile puke all over the stairs down from first to ground floor.
He specialized later and focused on dandelions and only digging up and eating the roots. Don't know, he was a weirdo :D
we got some grass treats and have been portioning them out to our kitties like pills

My cat also ate too much grass and throws up. I used to have this "cat grass" patch growing in the windowsill for him to graze on. But he ate it so fast that it didn't have time to regrow, and it got "redistributed" around the house. Silly creature. We don't have cat grass anymore.
They eat grass in order to throw up. It is their method of getting rid of hairballs. For longhaired cats like OPs eating grass is a good thing, although regular grooming of the cat is even better.
We used to shave him (not too short) because he enjoyed it. I think my cat specifically was just a goober. He would eat any houseplant within reach; or at least maul them. Used to find pieces of succulent clinging to life under the refrigerator and other odd places

True, but some cats just like the taste. My little weirdo will eat grass until she throws up a giant pile of it, and then she'll go back for more. I have to monitor her grass intake, lol. Having a harness/leash is necessary for this. I also have to watch out for her taking a chomp out of random mystery plants in gardens. She tries to go after lilies sometimes, which are highly poisonous to cats.

If it is controlled and supervised time outside then I don't see an issue. Free roaming cats are what cause damage.
Fully agreed. Would she catch birds, I would have serious issues with that. But her being an inside cat for most of her life plus a lamp on her collar, this thankfully ain't an issue at all. I track her all the time she's outside, so I know exactly at which neighbour's garden she is at sitting in front of mouse holes and can summon her at will (which she knows is a call for treats so she listens to it closely).
