About heirlooms. You cannot buy an heirloom to hand down no matter how much you spend. Heirlooms are made, not purchased. And I've been party to plenty of discussions about such things. People thinking that their kids, or more likely, their Grandchildren will truly appreciate some expensive thing they want to buy for them to inherit. That's not the case. What becomes an heirloom are those things they see you use regularly and build memories together with. And it can be something as simple and wonderful as a rain gage. A heirloom is merely a talisman that evokes the memories that matter.

So check that rain gage with pride! And remember!

At best it might be. Now I gots to go get a tape and measure how high it is. Wouldn't it be perfectly cromulent if it is 7 ft from the ground!

It all went southeast of us by just a few miles.Not a single drop of rain.

No, it's more like I put the new rain gage up Grandma!. It's soooo cool! It then never rains again......

This happened with this new gage. The weather forecast promised heavy thunder storms and showers for all day. I stood on my dock looking across the lake at the thunder storm passing me by just a few miles to the southeast. Not a single drop did we get.

I am disappoint. So, so disappoint..... 😰 😰

Any hardware or big box store will have them. I would have bought one at my local hardware store in town, but they were out and not ordering more until spring. And I the middle of nowhere here, ordering from Amazon or Walmart is a necessity if you need or want things that people in the big cities take for granted. Otherwise you do without.

Don't have gutters. The snow sliding off the roof sees to that.
