While China definitely wouldn't want to lose the US market entirely, I'm pretty sure at this point they consider the EU market a lot more important. Which is why they won't allow Putin to nuke Kiev.

SA has majorly diversified their holdings over the last decade or so. They're no longer solely dependent on Aramco (although still majorly). Specifically they own a lot of the global media landscape, both outright and through more... obscure means.

Indeed. I had a choice to make when broadband was first rolled out in my hometown. Pay for cable TV or internet. Didn't have the capability for both, and figured that paying for a two-way communication service was a better deal, so the cable TV was cut in '99.
I used to watch the network nightly news on youtube but I noticed that the programming got shorter and shorter each year.. as the commericals took more of the half-hour airtime.. it was like.. naaah.. so quit it all and switched to news journals and independent sources.
Oh yeah, you could actually watch a movie on TV around then. Now all I think is STFU whenever I an advertisement for anything comes up. Adding in all the websites that are like sign up! make an account! pay us please, turn off your adblocker (on my phone I use a neutral DNS lol.)

Save themselves from what? As the country continues to deteriorate, the parasites profiting from its downfall will just go somewhere else. They can afford it.
