A Walmart in Saguenay, Quebec had unionized back in 2004. It was closed shortly thereafter.
At the Saint-Hyacinthe Walmart, 200 employees had organized successfully in January 2005. Contract negotiations stalled and an arbitrator was called in, reaching a two-year deal on April 9, 2009. In 2011, the Saint-Hyacinthe Walmart employees voted (147 out of 250) to decertify UFCW as their representative union; employees believed that the 2009 contract was tilted strongly in favour of their employer.
Walmart employees in Gatineau joined the UFCW in 2008. This was followed by two years of stalled negotiations before an arbitrator imposed a collective agreement. In November 2011, after one year with their collective agreement, the 150 Wal-Mart employees voted to decertify.
I was living in Saint-Hyacinthe at that time and as it was one of their most profitable store, we were waiting to see what other excuse they would use. But they didn't say anything. They quietly fought the union in the background, and it was dissolved after a few months anyway. We'll see if this one lasts more than 24 months.

I really hope this one sticks and more wallie worlds, not just distrobution centres, follow suit. I wont be shopping at Wallie world regardless but if their labour becomes unionized all the better.
Hopefully like how Uber unionized in Victoria and now other cities are unionizing too. We gotta bring back real union power in Canada.
I used Uber eats once, because I got some free delivery, or something, and a friend got a credit for me using it and I never used it again. I went looking for some groceries that skip or instacart could not get me so I signed up for uber again did not find what I was looking for but man the spam just came tumbling in, the host I use has a wild card email so I was able to just create a new email account and for uber. And now all that email just gets bounced with a 550 error, or whatever error it is that emails send hopefully there system catches that and stops trying to send stuff.
As a US citizen I'm starting to wonder who really is the land of the free and brave now
