The discourse around the Israel-Palestine thing has reached a very specific nadir.

I got harangued by strangers while I was out because my mobility scooter is an Israeli brand.

I get it. I do. But there aren't that many alternatives for mobility aids that actually do what I need them to do. Please do not shout at me for using the scooter I've owned for ten years.

[-] RoseLemon@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

I wish these people would go place their energies at where it matters - Malcolm Turnbull + Peter Garrett for approving Chevron in Australia who enabled this conflict. But no, lets target the vulnerable instead. I'm so sorry for the suckage.

mobility scooter is an Israeli brand

I'm not getting involved in the Israel / Palestine conflict discussion but randoms having a go at you for the brand of your scooter is taking it too far and you shouldn't have to deal with that at all.

Well that's absurd. Thank you for teaching me a new word today though (nadir) ๐Ÿ‘

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

'harangued' is also one I didn't know..

Stay in school kids (I did but can't remember much). :)

[-] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I think I only remember that one because it sounds like meringue (but I didn't know meringue was spelled like that ๐Ÿค”)

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

What the fuck is wrong with people. Please, please next time run them over or beat them with your sticks.

[-] Pilk@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

That is appalling. Sorry you had to deal with that. I can't even imagine the thought process.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

so many hugs

These people are not following the teachings of the most famous and influential Palestinian in history.

Ooo I'm stuffed, but not exhaustipated. Mostly weighing and packing frozen food, and chipping in in production where needed. I like finishing at 2.30-3.00pm, I can still enjoy the arvo and I don't feel shitty about being on the phones because I didn't even see a single phone today looool just three of us weighing and packing for our lives

Also no regrets about the boots, especially with the "tradie" socks I bought, super comfy, barely an inconvenience.

Did get a lil sus when my pack room supervisor said it was a trial shift. I think she was mistaken, as far as my contract is concerned, I am an employed casual lol

[-] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Yay! Just watch your dates. Boyo got culled 3 days before the required to switch from casual to perm.

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

Oooof brรผtal ๐Ÿ’€ that's so farked!

And yes I will! I've been reading up on my rights as a casual, I've never been casual before so I need to know ofc. I suspect I'll be alright, my coworker has there almost a decade, but I'll definitely be wary of that thank you! ๐Ÿ’œ

Also I'm glad your boy got a new job! Give him my congrats!

So having to start early, I'm grateful my anti-sads regulate my circadian rhythm and get me up at 5am.

I was practicing lifting 15kg boxes yesterday, filled a box with some big books lol. Not as heavy as I thought it would be, so I hope I do well today ๐Ÿ˜…

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

FROM THE KNEES! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

You'll kill it I'm sure :)

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Bend ze knees!

[-] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

Pace yourself. Also, moving big weights should be pushed not pulled. Use your BIG muscles (thighs, upper arms) to push weights (up or down) - and your hands for grip and keep your back straight as much as possible. You will be exhaustipated by the end of the day, stiff but hopefully not sore.

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

Thank you! I hope I am exhaustipated, it'll make sleeping easier loool

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

I am cranky and unmotivated today -_- I don't like feeling like this.

I failed weigh in today. Up 1kg. Could've been the custard tart...the party pies...the ice cream....the half a bag of peanut puffs....the bacon fettuccine....I will do better this week.

[-] CadMunt@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That's not a failure. Those treats help keep you on track the rest of the time. As long as your weight goes down monthly you're doing fine. EDIT: I had potato cakes & onion rings for lunch then hungry jacks for dinner yesterday. I needed some trash.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Yeah all good. I gave away the second custard tart. I gave myself a pat on the back.

Have to pull out all the watering drip lines for the garden I did a while back because the fence fell down.

Then put it back.

Can't put it back until a nu fence is built.. neighbour is already difficult.

Right before a 1/1000 El Niรฑo..

๐Ÿ™ƒ

[-] SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

I refreshed a garden bed and put in a few new plants this winter. Mostly natives, hopefully they have had enough time to develop roots before the El Niรฑo hits. I am expecting casualties though.

Weighing up whether a $9-12k medical tourism trip to China would be worth it. A week and a bit of intensive multi-disciplinary workup that would take years of waiting in Australia. It doesn't sound too bad, actually. The hardest bit is getting the initial appointment.

New airfryer beats old toaster oven for Shepard's pie. Nice crust.

[-] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

I am in Keith right now. Nothing weird about that, it's a normal place to be. It's just in South Australia and everyone else I know is in Keith too

[-] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

This Sriracha is very good. Maybe even better than the Huy Fong stuff.
