Microsoft should be broken up. They never should have been allowed to get so big in the first place.

Reddit started forcing login for old.reddit. That's one driver, and why I made an account here, and have read several comments from others saying the same.
I came in over the summer when they started piloting locking out web browser lurkers. I was a long time Apollo user and Lemmy is the closest thing.
Shutting down old.reddit will undoubtedly bring more people over. Not everyone wants to use that shitty app.
Must be fun out there watching the numbers go down day by day.

It’s crazy how many 100k+ karma accounts have less than a month on the platform.
I get why that's so annoying. But I'm not sure why it would drive new signups here. Isn't that more of an issue for people who don't want to create an account?
Feels like we need a really strong Fediverse/Threadiverse search engine to fill the gap left by Reddit ending open access.
For me, it was more about supporting the "small guy" who isn't trying to profit off my data.

The war continues. XBOX under surprise attack by their enemy Microsoft again.
They want Xbox to make a resounding comeback while also removing all of the talent from the studios. Cat's out of the bag, we already know it's not "14 layers of management" being fired, it's everyone. They aren't making the latest awesome Halo for the next Xbox, they want some sloppy sad corporate approved vibe coded cheap thing that they can ship with the limited number of new consoles.
and people will still go buy it in droves.
While I'm glad that Hideo Kojima's projects were picked up by Microsoft, and therefore the people at his studio will have paychecks because of that, it has to make these layoffs so much harder to take. MS just willingly picked up two projects from a guy who is chronically over budget, but they're still doing layoffs for their existing employees.
Workers should just quit the AAA game industry. there's no reason to work at a big corporation in this climate.

I'm sure all those workers own their homes freehold and don't have any other financial obligations at all.
All the more reason to find an stable job that doesnt fire them after every release.
And go where? The industry isn’t exactly booming. Plus you’d be competing with everyone that just got laid off.
Yet somehow wow has retail, classic, progressive classic and now forever. Who the hell is still playing that game?
