he is a social democrat, not far left by any means

[-] ManixT@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

What a piece of shit. People like him are so pathetic.

[-] randamumaki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago

"Now look what you made me do" is the warcry of the abuser and should never be entertained. What a display of victim blaming there, yikes.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

How about he blame the fucking aggressors!?

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Its your fault for defending yourself. Such great victim blaming.

Clearly now that the fascists have criticised Russia, he is quick to claim a share of the money they kept receiving from Russia.

[-] Sunshine@piefed.ca 1 points 6 days ago

How does Bulgaria view Russia now?

[-] durably465@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago

As a croissant baguette I could say without a doubt that he is a populist turd.

It's a girouette, his ass is pointing to take any big money turd dick

[-] TheFrirish@tarte.nuage-libre.fr 2 points 6 days ago

Unfortunately it's him vs the far right in the next election and the RN is 10x more intertwined and in bed with Russia than LFI. I know who I am voting for next election. But I will make myself heard and keep sending support to Ukraine.

[-] bitteroldcoot@piefed.social 47 points 1 week ago

How do you call yourself far left, when you are blaming the person who was invaded for fighting back?

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 11 points 6 days ago

yeah, it is sickening and sad at the same time. I guess he would be on the side of Germany in WW2?

im "far left" and think NATO and associated nations (Australia, Canada, Mew Zealand) should put boots on the ground in Ukraine, along the Belarusian border to free up Ukrainian troops for the front and aircraft in the skies.

Fuck Russia and fuck this guy

[-] Tolc@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

You are not farleft. You are avg lockheed liberal.

[-] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago

A lot of communists around the world was against engaging in war with Germany... up until Germany invaded Russia.

[-] Rose@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 week ago

They support authoritarianism. That's not leftist.

[-] tal@lemmy.today 3 points 6 days ago

I mean, you can be auth-left. Reasonable to plot things in multiple dimensions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_spectrum

Several political scientists have noted that a single left–right axis is too simplistic and insufficient for describing the existing variation in political beliefs and include other axes to compensate for this problem.[1][9] Although the descriptive words at polar opposites may vary, the axes of popular biaxial spectra are usually split between economic issues (on a left–right dimension) and socio-cultural issues (on an authority–liberty dimension).[1][10]

How would that even work in the real world though? There cannot be even a hint at equality under authoritarianism. Someone is always at the top, and maintaining that kind of power is going to require restrictions and oppression.

[-] Tolc@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

who told you leftism = no hierarchy?

[-] Womble@piefed.world 3 points 5 days ago

Yet the USSR existed for a long time and PRC still does.

[-] Rose@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Which part of those countries is leftist? Calling each citizen a tovarish does not mean there was social equality or progressivism, depending on which definition of leftism you'd use.

[-] Womble@piefed.world 1 points 5 days ago

If you want to claim no left wing states exist or have ever existed then fair enough, but generally things are compared to others. The USSR (especially the early years) was more egalitarian than the USA and so was more left wing, despite being authoritarian.

[-] Rose@lemmy.zip -1 points 5 days ago

That's a very strange way of looking at it. If there's a far-right person and someone is comparably moderate, that doesn't mean they're "more left wing". That could easily mean they're just right-wing.

If someone is not stealing from their own country at the rate of Putin for example, that says little to nothing about the politics, human rights and equality in that country. The richest or specifically the ruling class in an African country may be worse off than those in the US or Russia, but that does not speak to the nature of either regime or make either more left-wing.

Tankies stink!

With Melanchon being a tankie and Le Pen a fascist, Macron's brand of right-leaning centrism unfortunately benefits.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

match made in hell.

[-] Sunshine@piefed.ca 11 points 1 week ago

It’s illegal for Macron to run for another presidential election.

[-] Zedstrian@sopuli.xyz 16 points 1 week ago

That's why I said 'Macron's brand' versus just 'Macron'; it's highly unlikely that his replacement would make a sudden veer to the left.

Seems like in France the far right/left are both on Putin's paycheck. What a piece of shit.

This will be very bad for Ukraine, when France has their selections next year. Hopefully until next year, something changes that prevents any of those parties to take power.

[-] Sceptique@leminal.space 1 points 3 days ago

It's less black than this. LFI was not paid by putin, has confusing positions about Ukraine but they are not far left and they do make clear statement they support Ukraine independance and Ukraine territorial integrity. This statement (with hostile media relay) is about controling media buzz according to melenchon (not 100% sure it'd genuine). I don't trust him to be as supportive to Ukraine's independance as he sometimes says. So they would not support Ukraine as much as they need or as he says but they have nothing in common with russia-loving far-right. The sad news is far right now has a good chance to pass. (I'm french)

[-] cotlovan@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

Anywhere in the west. Russia sponsored both the far left and the far right with the goal to destabilise countries and split societies.

[-] Tolc@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

societies are split by liberal bourgeosie elections mainly between liberals and conservatives.

[-] tal@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I'm not terribly familiar with French politics. France does have other significant left wing parties, but they (presently) hold fewer seats and are less hard left.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_France

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Party_(France)

The Socialist Party (French: Parti socialiste [paʁti sɔsjalist], PS[a]) is a centre-left[2][3][4] to left-wing[5][6][7][8] political party in France. It holds social democratic[9] and pro-European views.[10][11] The PS was for decades the largest party of the "French Left" and used to be one of the two major political parties under the Fifth Republic, along with the Rally for the Republic in the late 20th century, and with the Union for a Popular Movement in the early 2000s. It is currently led by First Secretary Olivier Faure. The PS is a member of the Party of European Socialists, Progressive Alliance and Socialist International.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ecologists

The Ecologists – Europe Ecology The Greens (French: Les Écologistes – Europe Écologie Les Verts), commonly known as The Ecologists (French: Les Écologistes, LÉ) and formerly as **Europe Ecology The Greens[**2] (French: Europe Écologie Les Verts [øʁɔp ekɔlɔʒi le vɛʁ], EELV [ə ɛl ve]) until 2023, is a centre-left[3][4] to left-wing[5][6] green[7] political party in France. The party is a member of the European Green Party.[8] It was formed on 13 November 2010 from the merger of The Greens and Europe Ecology.[9]

[-] GarbadgeGoober@feddit.org 3 points 6 days ago

Same for me, but some of my French friends explained it to me in the last presidential election.

One problem is they can have two rounds. If no one candidate achieves 50% of the vote, there will be a second one in which you most likely then have to decide between far left and far right. So I guess a lot of moderate would not go to vote in a second round.

[-] AceOnTrack@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 days ago

No, you usually get to chose between a fuckwad and extremists.

We've had nothing but fuckwad presidents for decades.
