Assuming time, money, living situation, and the law wasn't a factor. I'd love a skunk. I'd name her Oreo and i'd love her and she'd be my best friend.

My cat, Teddy. I left home for a bit, I come back to see she's gone. Nobody told me or anything. I know she's fine wherever she is, but I still miss her.

pet skunks are a thing, you have to get its anal glands surgically removed though.

[-] Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

You don’t have to. You can train them not to spray as long as you get them as a kit. I’ve known a few people with skunks that they raised from babies that didn’t get their scent glands removed.

[-] daggermoon@piefed.world 1 points 23 minutes ago

Yeah I wouldn't descent mine. I believe it would be unethical to surgically alter them to better suit humans. I want a skunk for the lovable, smelly floofball they are.

A powerful politician. The reasons should be obvious.

[-] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Boston Dynamics Spot, for no reason.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

I want a fully cloned megaraptor. I don't even care if it's trained or not.

just release it in Florida for me when it's done.

An army of pet dragonflies.
Never be bothered by mosquitoes again.

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 3 points 8 hours ago

You can get a dragonfly on a flexible arm that clips to your hat. Apparently it works pretty well, bugs see a dragonfly floating around your head and fuck right off.

[-] sunsofold@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago

Pangolin, maybe? It's probably as close as one could get to a pet draco vulgaris.

Capybara are actually supposed to be already pretty cool. Some selective breeding might make them even cooler.

Sloth could be interesting.

There are some aquaria that would be unrealistic to own now but if there were no limits it'd be interesting to have some of the deep sea creatures.

But also, really, if money, time, etc. were no issue, I'd probably take over an entire american state to build an enormous shelter/kennel/animal hospital/rescue centre for the lost, abandoned, unhoused, or otherwise uncared for pets of the world.

Capybara because capybara

A donkey but I don't know how to take care of them

[-] cRazi_man@europe.pub 1 points 8 hours ago

You going to ride that ass?

[-] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 33 points 21 hours ago

Dragon. And anyone who says otherwise isn’t being completely honest with themselves. Everyone wants a dragon.

I'd have my cat. If the devil came acallin' I'd sell my soul for me and the lil guy to be immortal. I could spend eternity in his company and it wouldn't be enough.

[-] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 21 hours ago

I, also, choose this guy's cat.

[-] Asweet@piefed.ca 1 points 12 hours ago

A giraffe. Because it's a giraffe, I believe no further explanation should be necessary.

[-] thirteene@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

[-] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 10 hours ago

[-] confuser@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 hours ago

I've been interested in snakes lately, they are actually quite a very interesting topic, I didn't realize just how many hundreds of morphs there are and not to mention variations of species.

[-] chunes@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Always fancied Abyssinian cats but I hate that they're bred and cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

  • Fox (they are so cute)
  • Cheetah (pretty and pretty chill)
  • Snow Leopard (beautyful fluffy cats)
[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 4 points 15 hours ago

Right before I was born, my mom had a pet skunk named Petunia. She loved her and talked about her all the time growing up.

[-] cadekat@pawb.social 4 points 15 hours ago

tbh, I'd rather be the pet.

[-] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 17 points 20 hours ago

Can I have a pet human or is that too problematic?

[-] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 10 hours ago

It's called having a child, and it's a lot different from any other kind of pet.

[-] daggermoon@piefed.world 15 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Is this some consensual sex thing? If so, will you care for them and love them?

I have answered this the same way every time I've been asked:

A great big fuck-off raven.
