Since Satan isn’t here, I’ll say it:

“Come inside me.”

[-] BorgDrone@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago

Those are the best 3 words to hear.

The best 3 words to say are: “Told you so”

Probably because of the RAM lockdown thing, their firmware blocks unauthorized RAM components. They say it’s because scammers bought pis, replaced the ram with a shitty alternative and resold them. The non-malicious tinkerers and repair-enthusiasts obviously hate this for good reason.

A source

[-] Ertain@feddit.online 22 points 3 days ago

That is stupid. All they needed to do, instead of making that draconian thing, was to print the RAM amount (in big, bold letters and numbers) on the PCB itself. If a Raspberry Pi owner complains to the RPi people about their board having some funny RAM issue, they could ask, "What's the RAM amount printed on your board?", the owner could tell the RPi person, and they could easily figure out if the RAM was tampered with.

Changed their EULA to claim ownership of new technologies developed on the Pi. Or something to that effect, it's been a while.

Oh fuck, i knew qualcomm would ruin Arduino sigh it was also one of the few Italian tech projects that got popular

[-] lilith267@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 days ago

God dammit I remember thinking "qualcomm aquiring arduino is not for the better but hey, maybe arduino can do some cool stuff with the backing"

Nope ig corps really are just trying to kill every hobbiest space huh :/

[-] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 days ago

That’s 4 words silly goose

They changed their firmware to disable you from upgrading the RAM

That's a fair cop

[-] EmberKitty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago
[-] sirico@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

&& upgrade -y

[-] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

Damn Rapeberry with it's forced RAM limit.

[-] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 days ago

"I am acearo" is better than "I love you" because it directly counters it

[-] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 3 days ago

don't you also have to sudo apt upgrade or is that from times gone past?

[-] libewa@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

Sorry to be that guy but the words "I love you" are used in toxic relationships more often than in wholesome ones.

If you need confirmation several times a day that someone still "loves" you then maybe re-evaluate what love really means to you.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
