Ya but they were also rich. So I've got one up on them 😎

Once more it is proven that money can’t buy you everything. In this case, bragging about reaching the peak of the world.

Well, to be honest, lots of people successfully achieve that very expensive goal, the dead ones are a very tiny minority. So money does buy that almost always.

if they want to brag, try K2 , of course they likely wont survive that mountain.

[-] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 17 points 5 days ago

Some of them are more famous in death than in life and serve as significant mile markers to this day.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Boots

Koflach could make an ad campaign out of that picture with the slogan "Our boots will outlast You".

Wow, it only took 30 years to identify that poor guy.
Also, no disrespect, but "Dorje Morup" sounds weirdly Danish to me.

[-] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

The wiki said they will get the body this october. Kinda sad...

The moral of the story is: never try

[-] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

no, it's "set realistic goals with achievable metrics and reasonable KPI's"

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago

I think "reasonable metrics and achievable KPIs" works better. You don't really "achieve" a metric, it's the scale that measures your achievements. KPIs have achievable "goals".

[-] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I would have said "scalable metrics" but we were talking about climbing mountains and I didn't want to garner confusion. (small rimshot)

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago

Is this an HR nerd argument? Username kinda works.

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

We're just leveraging our core competencies in order to holistically administrate exceptional synergy

[-] merc@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

Or, don't get corporatized and forget you ever knew what a KPI was.

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

I think the Kenyan Premier League is already reasonable enough.

[-] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

How dare you

But then again, 100% of people who don't climb Everest eventually die, so...

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 5 days ago

at least on everest, your frozen corpse can be used as a marker in case you get "lost"

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

If you go you die, if you didn't go you die as well. Might as well cut out the middleman and die right now.

[-] OpenStars@discuss.online 1 points 5 days ago

Or, to complete that logic square, simply don't die later.

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

You don't necessarily know that. Then again, some of the corpses on Everest might've just gotten real lost.

[-] GrindingGears@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

“Shut up Sharon, I think that Starbucks is just right around the corner here…”

[-] bryndos@fedia.io 3 points 5 days ago

But do they on average, last longer?

That's the way to "beat" entropy, tread water for as long as possible.

[-] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago

What the hell is that border

[-] HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world 23 points 5 days ago

China-Nepal

[-] fraksken@infosec.pub 3 points 4 days ago

Real wisdom right here. Break neck speed is exactly that.

[-] vegafjord@slrpnk.net 2 points 4 days ago

Id rather be dead than not trying!

[-] raven55six@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Okay, I kinda agree with this.

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

There wouldn't be so much (bad) news to keep up with if people would just quit doing stuff. Everyone take a break for a while.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

To be fair if we all unanimously took a break at the same time, that would generate a ton of bad news. The people who own the news don't want everyone to be able to do anything.
