It's just so weird that there's people that like him and his music. It's really hard to imagine but they genuinely exist. And you wonder how that's even possible and you want to meet one to study them, try get an understanding, just general curiosity. Is it a mental thing? A social one? Trauma? What's happening in their brain where they hear the music and think, "This is really good. It is a favourite thing. In no way is this person a walking meme. They are very cool. I will pay money for this."

He's had about 3 good songs and they were all on one album from 1999, so I imagine his concerts got visits from folks wearing nostalgia goggles, same as Vanilla Ice or Marcy Playground.

Now that he's in the news more for being MAGA, folks who were all "oh boy bawitdaba!" when thinking about him are getting that overwritten with "wasn't he the dude doing shirtless workouts with the brain damaged antivax dude?", and thus, ticket sales fall apart.

I agree. But only because I understand that the world in which I grew up is gone. The level of being able to profit off of and market oneself off of being a complete fucking loser and failure is too damn high.

I wish we could just point and laugh at awful people having funny things happen to them without them remaining relevant because of it. The fucking attention economy is awful.

The world has changed, or reverted back to a period where fascists will support each other to insulate the most at risk through their own “charity” to try to mitigate the dying or regression of their movement. You have to learn what their tactics are and respond accordingly, which in today’s case is to ignore them instead of point and laugh. There will soon be a time for that, too.

I’m not sure you’re understanding who is doing the charity - we’re talking about the fascists doing charity for each other in this case. They’re literally fund raising for each other when they are going viral, it’s like anti cancel culture in their minds. So by raising awareness, you’re literally helping them. Raise awareness of fascist tactics, of bad and deadly policy, of prosecutions, demand local leaders take action, but stop posting social media posts and comments and that just bring attention to individual fascists you don’t like, because that’s just helping them. If you need to report them to authorities, just do that.

People hate Nickelback because it's fun. People hate kid rock because his music sucks. The only good song he has is a duet with Sheryl Crow that is over 20 years old. His only halfway decent song since is 18 years old and is just sweet home Alabama mixed with werewolves of London. The only original song he has that made anyone pay attention to him has gibberish for a chorus. Nickelback sells out arenas and this dude can't even get enough people to go to a concert to actually have one. There is no comparison.
