Does this sentence make sense?

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 92 points 2 days ago

They're saying that aviation professionals are obsessed with planes to the point of romantic infatuation, and would do anything to prevent them from crashing.

[-] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 days ago

Might be you

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

The aneurysm is calling from inside the house.

[-] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Might be you

No period? I'm sorry, your argument is therefore invalid.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

otherwise it's perfectly comprehensible

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 2 days ago

I don’t understand other comments’ confusion, this makes total sense to me.

[-] Soggy@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

It took me a couple tries but I got there. Some punctuation would have helped.

[-] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

it doesn't help that "fuck" has every significations you want

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago

I get what they are saying… but it’s stupid.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 2 days ago

I'm getting confused by "those things". What things are we talking about? Are they talking about the plane, or something else.

My father used to be an airline pilot and I know airline pilots can be a bit obsessive but it's not about the plane as much as it's about all the procedures and regulations. They mostly swear at the planes. Cabin crew mostly see it as just a job, with some bonuses that you don't normally get. Crew don't get assigned to a particular plane, they move around quite a lot, so they don't really get attached to one aircraft in the way that sailors may get attached to their ship.

[-] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

I think they're talking about the mechanics, viewing "those things" (the planes) as wives, the mechanics' autistic (<-complimentary) love transcending material and size, to reach around to lust.

Sounds about right, to be honest.

Wut.

I thought the airline staff wanted to fuck each other

[-] Kushan@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

I feel like every industry says that their staff are the horniest.

[-] greedytacothief@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 days ago

Nah, in the outdoor industry is definitely raft guides that are the horniest.

[-] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

This matches what i know about the one raft guide i met. Eesh.

[-] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

I was promised it was nurses!

[-] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah but they picture planes the whole time

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Wtf is this saying? Can someone translate to English for me?

[-] PuddleOfKittens@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

"Everyone who works in aviation wants to fuck these things" these things = the planes, "wants to fuck" = is overly emotionally attached to the plane. "every plane that crashes is a wife who dies" = the technicians will dearly mourn the "death" of the plane, and don't want it to happen in the first place.

[-] Curiousfur@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

Oh man, today Lemmy learned that "living planes" and such is a thing. "Living Aircraft" has like 5500 tags on e621 dating back to 2009. Reddit used to have r/dragonsfuckingcars, too.

[-] DeepDown@leminal.space 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I know of airplane fetish because I had a friend in highschool who was at the intersection of furry and airforce family

[-] CluckN@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Sure a “friend”. They must go to a different school in Canada and that’s why we’ve never met them.

[-] DeepDown@leminal.space 7 points 2 days ago

He was real! I have friends!

[-] Uli@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

I mean it sounds absurd, but have you seen the size of the landing gear on some of these bigger planes? Like a good A380? Huge tires. I'd get inside her cockpit.

[-] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'm dating a living plane otherkin. We're going to get married.

So yeah I'm a planefucker.

[-] Bohne93@feddit.org 28 points 2 days ago

Same with trains, autists really keep the place going

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago

You'd think Germany would have the best rail service in the world.

[-] Bohne93@feddit.org 17 points 2 days ago

Privatization man. Rail should belong to the people, not to profit oriented buisnesses.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Everyone agrees that privatizing roads would be a bad idea, but for some reason they're okay with it when it comes to trains.

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 2 days ago

I dunno. I get railed by DB on a regular basis

[-] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

They have a blemished record of providing unwanted one-way trips

[-] darthsundhaft@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago
[-] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

I think this is more appropriate in the brand new sentence community.

[-] lemmygarden@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

Less likely to die on a bus than a plane. Less likely to be injured on a plane than a bus.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

No one's excited to join the 39 foot long club.

[-] LodeMike@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

Source on that? Is it per mile traveled because I highly doubt it would be.

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

[-] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 2 points 2 days ago
