A rather free love friend of a friend was trying to fuck guys from every sign of the zodiac, and she hadn't gotten to Cancer yet. As an amateur astronomer now, and a child who was raised by a lunatic into all sorts of woo, I declined on principle.

Look, have your fun. But woo is a relationship red flag for me. You cannot remind me of my mother if you want me turned on. I haven't gotten laid countless times. I don't need or want sex that badly. I desire someone I can trust to keep a firm grasp on reality.

what i find creepy af is women who tell me i remind them of their dad and it turns them on... on a date, or worse, in bed.

it's so gross and weird. another bizzaro double standard, because I'd be a huge creep told them they reminded me of my mom.

I generally try not to yuck anyone's yum, I won't make fun but I will just straight up say I don't believe in anything spiritual or magical.

I'm a bit more open minded; who really knows what's going on beyond the reality that we see and interact with on a daily basis.

That said, I do think that anyone who claims to be an expert on that stuff is full of shit and either lying to everyone else or themselves.

Though my name comes from understanding enlightenment in a Buddhist sense is real, though even that isn't as mystical as it can seem to the unenlightened. It's just the process of growing wiser and "enlightenment" is the moment of epiphany when some piece of wisdom clicks.

Like one of the early ones I remember having is realizing that doctors, police, or whatever authority people are just people like anyone else, they have good days and bad days where they might just want whatever problem you have for them to go away rather than get solved. Some are diligent workers, some cheated their way to where they are, some failed upwards. Some think "I don't know" threatens their position and will instead lie with confidence, assuming you'll never know any better. Some assume they even know better without actually knowing and just act on that.

It's obvious in hindsight but felt pretty profound when it clicked in my mind.

I have a female friend who is an Astronomer. I always call her Astrologer, especially at parties and such.

Be thankful you haven't been punched in the face by her

Better astrology than witchcraft. I have been through both in my younger days. I do have to admit, the witch was far more fun in bed.

Or you can just have a decent personality. I've never had a problem with both not believing in their astrology and getting laid. Just don't be a dick about it and talk about something else.

I can feel this post in my root chakra

[-] LavenderBreton@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 day ago

What's sadder is that yoga, chakras, and crystals are traditionally from religions within the Indian subcontinent. Westerners are simply taking aspects of South Asian cultures, indigenous cultures, African cultures, and then bastardising them into marketable "neo-pagan witchcraft."

Turns out the modern world doesn't have much reverence for the sacred.

I'm straight, been married 32 years, and my wife hates astrology. There's no dilemma.

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Hating astrology is such a leo thing
