Ay, St. Louis represent! It's a rare day when I see it online in the wild.

Go to Arch Store

Point of sales computers all run Windows

I tried to check if this was true, but some guy was all like "sir, you're not supposed to be back here" and "please step away from the cash register" 🙄

you have to package all your purchases yourself.

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 3 points 21 hours ago

no thats gentoo store

I'm more upset that the physical architecture of the entrance is not an arch or at least round as opposed to being a box. Lame as hell.

[-] FryHyde@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago

It's underneath the St. Louis Gateway Arch. Essentially the entire building is the largest arch you could hope for.

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

Exactly, I had a visceral reaction to this. How could you own an arch store and not feel completely offput by this? The apathy disgusts me.

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Not only that the door way inst even an arch it's that post and lentil bullshit lol

[-] gon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 34 points 1 day ago

It's the Arch store, not the Arch store btw... Rookie mistake on your part, there.

[-] wuffah@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

Looks more like a rectangular store to me.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

clearly using a beam—not an arch—as support

[-] jobbies@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago

The real arch store would be pretty basic. Everything in plain cardboard boxes - basically just the self-service area in IKEA.

[-] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago

At IKEA they put the whole kit with instructions in one box.

At the Arch Store there would be a bookshelf full of instruction sets and bins of loose parts that you'd have to collect after reading the instructions.

Which would be pretty cool cuz you could build just about anything.

[-] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

That's basically a Home Depot that also gives out construction plans for stuff...

[-] BladeFederation@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago

Which is a decent idea tbh...

[-] jobbies@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

There would be people wandering around saying things like 'hey I'm a total noob can I use this as a home server? ’. And greybeards muttering insults under their breath.

[-] hansolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Then there's a bunch of people in the parking lot that are the most cantankerous, awkward, on the spectrum weirdos you'll ever meet. You can ask them questions... If you want more questions than real answers.

[-] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 2 points 18 hours ago

And a lot of unsolicited opinions about what you plan to do

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

It'd be like Legos, but with less pain when you step on it!

[-] technopagan@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago

I went into a store and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm on Arch, btw.

[-] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 day ago

No long pink, pale blue, and white stockings?

[-] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago
[-] thatKamGuy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

NGL, I am tempted by some of those - but as a CachyOS user - would that just make me a poser?

Like, the equivalent of stolen valour? 😅

[-] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

Go by some Avery labels and print out the logos. Then iron a couple onto nice cotton tees. Who'll know the difference?

Honestly, as a cheapskate, I've done this more than once. Only thing I can't do is embroider lol, so lil vinyl patch works. Just print a bunch at the same time to save labels 😅

[-] BladeFederation@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

But!...did they open source the shirt designs?

[-] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

🤔 fuck.. You know, idk. I would assume so since they're just existing logos, but you meaning the vector files?

I went to FanExpo a few weeks ago, looking for the latest in fan technology. I was sorely disappointed, but I did get a signature from Brent Spiner and Dean Norris.

[-] churrodestroyer@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

I don't even run arch but I'd be thrilled to stumble upon a Linux store this size. I now realize how much I want a stuffed penguin!

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

With the Ikea parallel, I'd love to see the Blåhaj version of Tux!

[-] Sonotsugipaa@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

... people relate to this incident, right?

[-] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

I just use rEFInd because I never don’t have problems with grub.

[-] Sonotsugipaa@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I do don't have problems with grub because

, but point taken

[-] Zen_Shinobi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

"I came in here to talk about Linux but all I got was this shirt!"

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

How do you know a Linux user has been to the Arch store? Don't worry, they'll tell you.

[-] doleo@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

You found the arch nemesis

[-] MaskedNybbles@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

Half-expected a shoe store before closer inspection, although I think I have seen this before.

[-] bilb@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

I kinda miss living in St Louis
