Yep, I'm done.

Bring on the climate apocalypse/nuclear war. Humans don't deserve to exist.

[-] Phanlix@lemmy.zip 7 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

The trainwreck that is the Trump administration becomes easier if you view it as what it is, the fall of America.

Unless we all think that Wall Street's open fraud, a soaring national debt, and soaring inflation are sustainable lol. Maybe we'll get the nuclear apocalypse we all so deserve.

People are blissfully unaware how few rights animals have and how common these type of problems are. Especially here in Asia animal rights are not existent to the point where there are many dark networks like this and people stealing pets for food etc. China in particularly is probably the worst place in the world to be a non human animal.

I used to write dark web scrapers for detecting fraud and shit you see there is absolutely insanity salvaged only by the fact that it's incredible minority of people who are this deranged as in 0.00001% in grand scale of things.

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 22 points 1 day ago

Do what now?!? Global monkey torture Network? That is not a sentence I ever imagined hearing.

[-] rustbuckett@programming.dev 2 points 14 hours ago

That's pretty much what I thought when I read this headline.

[-] bertlewirth@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

eh, it's no different than what the animal ag industry does to billions of animals, namely pigs. Farrowing cages much?

[-] krakloskewm@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 day ago

I read about this whole thing a few years ago. It made me feel physically sick to my stomach.

Apparently there is a pipeline for animal abuse that starts with milder stuff on YouTube and then leads to more severe stuff off the beaten path - discord groups and stuff where monies are tortured and people request really tucked up things done to the monies. They are usually baby monkeys.

The people that torture the monkeys make money doing it. People pay them.

It's so unbelievably tucked up

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 13 points 23 hours ago

Good God. I could've gone my whole life without knowing that.

[-] krakloskewm@lemmy.zip 6 points 20 hours ago

Ditto. There is no punishment too severe for these people.

[-] 58008@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

You'd get longer for pirating a movie...

[-] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 86 points 1 day ago

He was sentenced to three years and three months in prison at Woolwich Crown Court.

"It is no exaggeration to say that as a lawyer or as a judge I have never encountered such a horrific case of animal abuse in my life," Judge Christopher Grout told the court.

"There is a vile underground community who have a hatred of monkeys, particularly baby monkeys, and take pleasure in seeing such monkeys being tortured and killed."

The judge said Poklek would be released after serving about a third of his prison sentence under the Sentencing Act 2026, and called for longer sentences for animal abuse, which currently has a five-year maximum.

He added: "If ever there was a case that demonstrates that the statutory maximum for animal cruelty is too low, this is it."

[-] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 32 points 1 day ago

What I don't understand is how he got less than the maximum penalty. He had CSAM and drugs and they couldn't even do the 5 years?

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 9 points 23 hours ago

My wife watches a lot of those serial killer shows and while I totally think the prison industrial complex in the US is a complete shit show I’m still oftentimes in shock when it’s a case in another country and they get like one year in jail for murdering a family.

[-] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 2 points 17 hours ago

He probably pled guilty and was really helpful or something.

He'll be out in a year and a half

A quick google suggests you'd get more time for fucking the monkey

I'm probably on some kind of list now

[-] kamen@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Implying that you weren't on that list before...

[-] CedricWhaley@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 day ago

But that could also get you a job at the FBI.

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I don't think thats a REQUIREMENT now. Just allowed lol

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah that's not something I would've googled.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 9 points 1 day ago

His cellmate: so what you're in for?

This guy: well...

[-] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 4 points 14 hours ago

I wonder if they are below or above the chomos in the eyes of the average prisoner.

Prison slang for a child molester. They are the lowest rung and often get shanked for gang initiations and stuff.

[-] Photonic@lemmy.world 54 points 1 day ago

What the actual fuck?

[-] Asafum@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You can be anything you want to be in this world!

"I want to be a ringleader of a global monkey torture network!"

...

You can be almost anything you want to be in this world!

[-] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

These laws need to be revisited. They paid for and shared hardcore CSAM/snuff, with a slim veil of it ackshually being against monkeys and not humans. The guy got caught with regular CSAM as well, women were quoted as projecting their hatred of humans on monkeys, and it can't get more obvious. It's not like these sickos are clever or something, but they found an awkwardly safe grey zone in law to feed their their vile fetishes in a relative safety. That obviously invites a very heated discussion of where and how to draw the line right, and I myself find that if human is to keep being treated differently, at least, there are lotsa details like it being systemic + organized + commercial + international enterprise - all should factor into the sentence, breaking the set limits of just 5 years max for what looks like running a literal baby crushing machine.

The laws are like this because animal agriculture is also a literal baby crushing machine so harsher laws would basically make animal agriculture impossible.

[-] Danquebec@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Couldn't we at least make an exception for when the cruelty is for entertainment?

[-] lookingforanALFpolycule@lemmy.world -1 points 18 hours ago

Animal agriculture is for entertainment of the taste buds, not a necessity. So your denominator would not exclude animal agriculture.

[-] Danquebec@sh.itjust.works 3 points 14 hours ago

"Entertainment" in its usual meaning, like watching something for fun.

[-] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 1 points 11 hours ago

Does living under deplorable conditions and being killed in a painful way sound better if we say it is for "enjoyment" rather than "entertainment"? 🤔

[-] Danquebec@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 hours ago

I didn't say it sounds better. I'm just suggesting an update of the law in a way that would strongly punish cruelty for entertainment while staying politically acceptable.

More details NSFL

NSFLHe said Poklek and his acolytes paid for monkeys to be dismembered while alive and their body parts fed into a blender.

Primates were filmed being boiled alive, having their genitals and fingers cut off, being skewered with a kebab rod from top to tail and sexually abused.

Mother monkeys and their babies were slaughtered in front of each other by locals and one man was filmed cutting open the top of a skull and eating the animal’s brain.

[-] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago

As a long time “NSFL” content reader and watcher (efukt, rotten.com and liveleak - I watched it all):

I had to stop reading the article because I was getting physically ill - and I watched videos from the Yugoslavian war. This is truly vile shit and whoever was doing this or watching it should never be allowed to be around anything living ever again.

If you go “how bad it could be” it’s worse. Don’t read. Believe me.

[-] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 1 day ago

Thanks I will take a pass

Aaaaaaaaaand that's enough Internet for this year.

[-] tektite@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

cutting open the top of a skull and eating the animal’s brain

My ex is from Thailand and told me that there are restaurants where you can eat live monkey brains. I guess there's a hole in the table so they can put the animal below and the diners have access to the brains.

While I suppose this could've been a lie, it was not the only instance of horrific animal abuse I was told about so I'm inclined to think it is real.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Not saying this has never happened, but this is straight out of Faces of Death and was 100% fake

Stephen Miller is desperately looking for alternative sources of entertainment ever since his monkey torture feed has dried up.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 1 day ago

He follows zionazi torturing Palestinians.

[-] Quacksalber@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago

Maybe he hates monkeys so much because he's reminded of them every time he looks in the mirror. A hate-filled mind rots the body.

Yet the Epstein gang walks free.

[-] cAUzapNEAGLb@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Same audiance imo. And dont forget animal protections have historically preceeded child protections. When trump couldnt kill a kid, he instead reached for a litter of puppies to quench his bloodlust. So i consider this progress, however small and symbolic, within the context of our cruel world.

Change happens slowly, then all at once.

Cut off his testicles and feed them to him with a nice Chianti

[-] sqauffle@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

That is a remarkably monkey-looking perpetrator

[-] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago

I’m just going to pretend this is about the sketch The State did where Thomas Lennon is explaining on a talk show that he does “monkey torture.”

When asked what he has learned from his research his response is “they hate it.”

[-] moakley@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Before reading the comments I thought "Global Monkey Torture Network" was a funny turn of phrase. Great band name.

After reading the comments I'm just sad.
