Russia is having problems supplying itself with diesel due to how many of their refining capacity has been damaged by Ukraine.

The only effect of this will be an attempt to shift blame from Trump for the shortages and high costs of energy onto Ukraine for daring to defend themselves.

Make no mistake this is a trick.

Russia HAS NO DIESEL TO EXPORT. They're importing at a huge government loss from India.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/world/articles/russia-import-diesel-fuel-while-135000913.html

This fake deal accomplishes exactly two things:

  1. It lets Trump give Putin money for arms against Ukraine and all Putin has to do is middle man Indian diesel.
  2. It lets Trump attack Ukrainians when they strike Russian refineries because they're "bombing our American diesel supply chain.

The US is a NET EXPORTER of diesel. They don't need more fuel. The problem is the market price is increasing due to mostly Hormuz since Russian oil is sanctioned. All he's doing is lifting this sanction to pay Putin to buy arms. Stopping Putin from trading fuel for arms was the entire purpose of the sanctions in the first place.

Trump is a traitor.

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

yep. russia can't supply diesel to it's farmers so they can bring in the crops.

https://thepublic.info/en/news/in-russia-farmers-are-warning-of-risks-to-the-grain-harvest-due-to-a-shortage-of-diesel-fuel

now they're gonna export hundreds of thousands of gallons?

HOW? How they fuck would this fuel get from the gas station that is russia to the US? LOL, Ukraine will just blow it up.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

It was all a scam. Trump had just put sanctions on Russia. Putin then banned all diesel exports from Russia in response, even though they don’t have much thanks to Ukraine taking out refineries and storage. Putin wanted trump to lift those sanctions so he offered trump diesel russia doesn’t have in exchange for lifting the sanctiond trump just imposed

Played trump like a putz.

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 134 points 3 days ago

So we're at the point where Trump is openly and actively undermining US policy again in exchange for Russia to swing the election in his favor. Got it.

Ukraine and the Kurds. They fight our wars for us and betrayal is all they get for it. Ukraine should let every Iranian tanker through.

Ukraine should let every Iranian tanker through.

Wait what? Looking at the map, that means into the EU? Why?

This is treasonous and helps get American volunteers in Ukraine get killed. 👏👏The president of the USA is actively killing Americans at home and abroad 👏👏

The only way to stop him is [redacted]

[-] Ariselas@piefed.ca 26 points 3 days ago

Come on Zelenskyy, hit a few more of those Rusky refineries!

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 8 points 3 days ago

Ukraine has been killing it!

[-] AviAdi@suppo.fi 6 points 3 days ago

Unfortunately, Russia like Iran will be able to use dumb missiles and destroy ukrainian energy infrastructure in winter. USA may have doomed Ukraine by not giving patriot missiles when there was a chance.

Europe is about to experience a winter they haven't experienced in generations... God speed friends

[-] late_pessimistic@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 days ago

Don't lose hope. Ukraine will survive as long as Europe pays the bills to make up for Ukraine's crippled economy. Russia works to end this by supporting AfD and National Rally and Reform UK, but European citizens still have an opportunity to prevent that.

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Yes, but Russia was successfully overthrowing liberal democracy long before they invaded Ukraine. Since at least around 2012, if not before.

[-] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 26 points 3 days ago

Oh man, guess who’s supplying Putin with bombs to stop Ukraine from bombing Russian oil refineries to protect themselves from Russia?

America is officially a puppet state to Russia, but now with live streaming executions.

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I knew China and North Korea was and that Trump has given total financial lifelines for Russia but what bombs has US given?

[-] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 13 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

What do you think Russia is going to do with the money to buy the fuel?

The US may not be sending bombs directly, but that is 1000% where the money will go. Just because they're not providing the weapons directly, that does not absolve them of involvement.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago
[-] adhdsergio@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Serious question. Does russia have enough diesel product to export? I thought they had to restrict exports due to refineries strikes

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

their farmers can't bring in their own crops lol. most of their refineries are on fire or smouldering.

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

No, this is another money laundering scheme.

[-] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Didn't Trump put tarrifs on India for doing the same thing?

[-] andyburke@fedia.io 16 points 3 days ago

1M tons of oil were going through Hormuz every day before the big orange boi decided to pop off with no plan.

I am sure this will make a difference. 👍

Performative horseshit instead of governance is the best the GOP can do.

[-] SomethingWentWrong@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 days ago

Here's the relevant truth posted about this on Trump's private social media:

https://www.trumpstruth.org/statuses/42215

I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Everything about this site is disgusting and needs to be burned down.

Edit: we have the evidence. The legislative branch is spineless and the judiciary is out to lunch w the billionaires.

Everything about this site is disgusting and needs to be burned down.

Which site? Truth Social, or the unaffiliated site the commenter above you linked to? trumpstruth.org is a third party site that preserves Trump's posts where they won't get deleted and where people can link without giving traffic/ad revenue to the asshole.

Got to get those fuel prices down before the election!

We'll see if the American Public has learned anything in the past 10 years.

Present company excluded of course.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 11 points 3 days ago

The most upsetting part to me is that the G7 nations are releasing their fuel reserves and Trump is trying to give the credit to Russia.

[-] ElectricAirship@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 days ago

What are the chances Ukraine strikes Russian diesel reserves now?

[-] ag10n@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

They don’t strike reserves, they strike refining and delivery infrastructure.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

I really hope they do

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 points 3 days ago

Where are these reserves, and are they susceptible to attack?

It's probably too far underground for wayward drones to take out. There could be other ways though.

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 11 points 3 days ago

Some Ukranian drones might have something to say about this.

Let the mutherfuckers burn, burn motherfucker, burn!

[-] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I'm worried any US made equipment Ukraine uses is going to start malfunctioning if they attack refineries.

And if Dems win a majority of the midterms, boom, Russia cuts off diesel and he will pin the blame on Dems for the fuel crisis. Rural know-it-alls will claim it was "always the Dems' fault since March".

[-] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago

No worries there. A few hundred thousand tons of diesel won't make a dent in the price of diesel.

[-] Hacksaw@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Russia doesn't have diesel to export. They're now a net diesel importer, mostly from India.

[-] switcheroo@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Traitor. Orange plague. Disgusting warmonger.

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Russian Puppet Gets Puppeted by the Russians

[-] late_pessimistic@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 days ago

I would really hope this is the final straw for Americans to vote out every single Russia apologist out of office in the midterms, but if that had really been a dealbreaker for voters, Trump's team probably wouldn't have announced this in the first place. They know Americans care about gas prices more than foreign policy.

[-] santa@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

A deal was made close to an election. I’ve seen this movie before, and it didn’t end well.
