In this thread: mind boggling levels of literalism and pedantry even by Lemmy standards.
The vignette of food, comfort, and peace as contentedness is pretty damn understandable for most humans lol

Show me a guy who sits around the house all day jacking off and I’ll show you someone who isn’t causing any goddamn trouble.

edit: I clearly struck a nerve, and I couldn't be happier 🤣
I hate that I have to specify but I clearly meant jacking yourself off, not roofied 12 year olds.

Ok buddy
“There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God.” Ecclesiastes 2:24 NASB1995 https://bible.com/bible/100/ecc.2.24.NASB1995
Alone? I don't think any of us can ever be truly alone again. Not with 200 cameras and 400 microphones and 600 radio wave devices in our homes all sending your exact snack eating fingerprint to 10,000 companies to use to train AIs to sell you more snacks tomorrow.
But yeah, sure, it's great.
Yes, that is how it works. Unless you charge yourself a price to do so, which would be weird, as you would be both the customer and the business owner.
Unless it means that you are literally fucking priceless, thrusting into a Walmart price display board set to $0.00. Which would also be weird. You do at least go home before doing this, right? Actually, I don't want to know.
His net worth: Between $40 million and $300 million.
I've found being alone with snacks only costs about ten bucks
Don’t need a million dollars to do nothin’. My cousin's broke; don’t do shit.
Fuckin' A, man.
Good for your cousin, that should be the aim society facilitates for people.
It's an Office Space reference
Yeah but things have changed a little since the 90s
Really, you don't pay rent?
The advice is in fact still good regardless of his economic status...As it just seems to mean not making a pest of one's self.
Rent and bills are still a thing, most people have demands on their time and can't just sit at home minding their own.
Yeah, I am not saying you don't work or find a way to pay those necessary bills. I literally said not being a pest, and that means not butting in the business of others unnecessarily. Like, there is an unspoken context in what Tom Hardy is saying; he ain't saying don't work or earn money to pay the bills. Don't become a pest and don't get involved in petty, pointless drama are the two undercurrents I feel are behind his words.
Fair.
