A day never passes without a Republican confirming that they are delicate snowflakes.

[-] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 13 points 2 hours ago

They literally believe the first amendment is there to protect their feelings.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

So stupid they can never win an intelligent argument, they regress to violence every time. They epitomize those bumper stickers that say, “My kid beat up your honor roll student.”

[-] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 2 points 26 minutes ago

I'm surprised they didn't actually arrest the journalist tbh

Fd up country 😂

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 1 points 29 minutes ago

Just wait. They're going to do away with the rule of law, sooner rather than later. Then we'll all be on the menu.

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I'm not a lawyer, but typically if there is no expectation of privacy then he can go fuck himself and she can record whatever she likes

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Whine and threaten, the conservative (regressive) way.

Can't govern while you're whining and threatening.

[-] JoeLong@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

Wish I could vote for the prick running against this prick... if only!

Let's game this out. Assume what he was saying is true. Prices went up because Democrats have environmental regulations. Ok, cool. So the Democrats are protecting the environment? What an excellent endorsement.

When did prices shoot up? Just this year, right? Did the Democrats add these regulations this year then? Even though the House, Senate, and White House are controlled by Maga, somehow the party controlling all branches of the federal government was sidelined and wasn't able to stop it. Is he saying the Maga party, and by extension the President, is weak and feckless? Bold of him to say.

However, Occam's Razor tends to indicate he is full of crap, and that disel prices went up due to fallout from an unwinnable war, initiated by a feckless President, as a distraction from the allegations that he raped children.

Either way, good on the Democrats for protecting the environment, I suppose.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Prices went up because Democrats have environmental regulations. Ok, cool.

Conservatives (regressives) refuse to accept higher prices for anything, including a higher quality of life. This, of course, only holds true until someone they elected skyrockets their cost of living and then the excuses come pouring in. The problem is they keep electing failures that skyrocket their cost of living without offering them anything in return.

Sometimes you have to pay more for nicer things. Here's a good example. I've spent my entire life in The Valley in California. When I was a kid I'd come down out of the Sierras on the freeway in the summer and you could literally see a thick layer of smog covering the valley with the tops of the skyscrapers peaking out above that layer. Then CA got serious about fuel refinement standards and SMOG laws and now that layer is all but gone. So I pay more TO BREATHE CLEANER AIR. And there's way more people/cars in this valley than there used to be, so these regulations REALLY worked.

And like you mentioned, the cost of living skyrocketing is so clearly and obviously tied to this admin's awful policies that there's no argument in reality against it. The problem is we're all trying to point this out to actual, literal cult members.

Republicans are enemies of America. At this point they have abandoned the constitution and are nothing more than pathetic Nazis. If you try to fuck the press you are an enemy of the constitution.

[-] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 2 points 57 minutes ago

Haven’t they literally always been? Or like, since the Civil War? I don’t think the losing side were jailed en masse or anything…

[-] TheRiskiestBiscuit@reddthat.com 10 points 5 hours ago

Andy Harris should be arrested for being an insufferable and dangerous piece of sxxt. This is the man who tried to bring a handgun into the House chamber right after January 6th. He is by far the worst part of living in the state of Maryland, and I say this as someone who believes many of our democratic governor - Wes Moore’s - policies are an EXTREMELY distant second for that title.

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 2 points 56 minutes ago

piece of sxxt

Friend... You can say shit. It's a safe space for swearing. <3

[-] taiyang@lemmy.world 19 points 6 hours ago

I guess I miss the days when people avoided questions by being vague or redirecting... wasn't good then, but certainly better than lying, getting angry, then threatening journalists with laws that don't apply.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 174 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Everybody needs to see that second video, where he demands that only a specific reporter isn't allowed to record him because it's a two party state, and he doesn't give HER permission, even though it's a public forum, and there are a dozen other reporters recording. And then he demands an officer come over and arrest her for violating the two party recording law, before walking away, telling the other reporters to blame HER for not getting their uncomfortable questions answered.

What a coward, and a MAGA Traitor Pedophile.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Conservatives are all cowards. I've never met one with values that withstood the slightest scrutiny. Their god is Money, their religion is Greed, and Bigotry is their gospel.

[-] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 21 points 6 hours ago

he doesn’t give HER permission

Oh NOW you guys want to talk consent huh

[-] ChonkyOwlbear@lemmy.world 70 points 9 hours ago

I live in a two party consent state same as Maryland and the law only applies if you have an expectation of privacy. There is no expectation of privacy in a public place OR in a crowd of people.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 44 points 8 hours ago

A crowd of people who are there for the sole purpose of RECORDING him!

[-] Kirp123@lemmy.world 28 points 8 hours ago

The funniest thing was when the reporter handed her camera to another person and asked them to record for her. She technically wasn't recording him.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 32 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, that was awesome. He thinks he's getting one over on her, so she just says "Here you hold it" to her colleague, and then goes on asking her question, WHICH HE CLEARLY DIDN'T WANT TO ANSWER!

Hilarious.

[-] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 42 points 10 hours ago

Thank you for doing what this article failed to do and describing that Twitter-hosted video. Hopefully it's uploaded to a better network.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 23 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Wow, that is some MASSIVE sovcit energy 🤣

The nice part is that now, any journalist who comes into his proximity will know that it’s a good idea to memorize that section of Maryland state law, and specifically where it is not applicable (public forums), to quote at him, chapter and verse

[-] decolo@piefed.social 11 points 9 hours ago

Just a heads up, that site immediately started trying to get me to install malware, make sure you got protection

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 hours ago

What did it do? I had no issues. Do you use an adblocker? Please explain.

[-] decolo@piefed.social 13 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

altr

I just switched to base Firefox so I must have something misconfigured.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Yeah, I didn't try it in mobile either. I'll see if I can't make a video out of it myself.

[-] Mihies@programming.dev 4 points 8 hours ago

Firefox on Android here, don't see anything unusual

[-] disorderly@lemmy.world 16 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Oh my god, I cringed so hard I'm gonna need physical therapy. I wonder if he felt good about that encounter walking away.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 8 hours ago

Oh, No, he's going to play this encounter over in his head every single day for the rest of his life. This was the incident that ended his political career.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 121 points 11 hours ago

“The facts are diesel prices have gone up. There’s no question about it. Why has it gone up? Because the Democrats have environmental regulations—” Harris tried to respond, only for audience members to groan, laugh, and shout at the Maryland first district congressman and chair of the right-wing House Freedom caucus.

....

Shortly after the debate, Harris, a staunch MAGA Republican who has avoided in-person town halls since 2023, tried to get a reporter arrested for recording his speech to a group of journalists. Harris incorrectly stated the reporter was breaking the law as she asked about his support for the war.

What a F'ing snowflake.

[-] Neverclear@lemmy.dbzer0.com 44 points 9 hours ago

Member of the party that wants to inspect genitals in a public bathroom believes he has a right to privacy in a public forum.

[-] zipfile1782@piefed.social 7 points 7 hours ago

I'm sure this will end well for him.

[-] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Emphasis on "end."

Video: https://twitterviewer.net/American_Bridge/status/2110138940988506230

refresh if it doesn't work the first time.

The video where he says the one specific reporter: https://twitterviewer.net/BaltimoreBanner/status/2110353543022752199

Edit: Holy shit, watch the second one.

[-] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 16 points 10 hours ago

That's hilarious. Andy Harris is a complete and utter coward. Edit: Added link to the buffoon: https://twitterviewer.net/BaltimoreBanner/status/2110353543022752199

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 14 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Good on the reporter for following through with the questions regardless of what he said. (* I know you know, this is for others) He is a US House Rep for Maryland:

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 8 hours ago

I loved it when he says that SHE needs his permission to record him, but not the rest of them, so she asks the person next to her to hold her recorder.

[-] o0evillusion0o@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Thank you profusely?

Bitch go suck a bag of dicks.

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

So if that's gonna be how you title your article, it's a bit wild that at the VERY bottom of the enytie article all you say about it is this:

Shortly after the debate, Harris, a staunch MAGA Republican who has avoided in-person town halls since 2023, tried to get a reporter arrested for recording his speech to a group of journalists. Harris incorrectly stated the reporter was breaking the law as she asked about his support for the war.

That's it. As far as what matches the title.

Were there officers present? Did they call the police? Did they just say "Hey, that's illegal" or what? I DON'T FUCKING KNOW because they didn't report any of it.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 9 points 8 hours ago

If you actually watched the video, instead of hoping someone would describe it to you, all of your questions would be answered.

[-] FishFace@piefed.social -1 points 8 hours ago

I click on news articles to read them, not to watch tiktoks

[-] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 15 points 10 hours ago

see the video above. it's hilarious. soon to be unelect rep. andy harris is a complete and utter coward.

[-] Mihies@programming.dev 3 points 8 hours ago
