"Guys make me the cyberpunk 2077 car, put paint it silver because I have such a hardon for the BTTF DeLorean"
Complete trash. This is a massive con job.
IF it's ever production ready, half a dozen will be sold to billionaires.
Another smoke-and-mirrors show to dupe the rubes for a little while longer. Now gives them an excuse to buy spacexaixxaix and unlock his $1 trillion ~~shareholder theft~~ pay package.
It was an impressive demonstration of a car that likely will come with some heavy caveats and restrictions if it ever goes into production.
It won't.
The event was less than 30 minutes and felt more like a stunt show than a product reveal.
Because that's what it was.
Indeed, there was no mention of price, trim levels, release date, or other such mundane details.
Because it's not a legitimate consumer product and it never will be.
"Honey! Take the kid's college funds and buy Teslur!"
As a product reveal, this is nothing short of blatant fraud. I guarantee there was nothing inside that shell but gas tanks and thrusters.
Musk has done this before. His solar roof tiles were made by an LA prop company. I'm sure if he showed a magic blood testing box people would invest billions.
The solar roof tiles were a real working product, they were just unprofitable even at very high price Tesla were selling them for. I briefly looked into them when I got solar panels installed at my previous home and it was about 50% more expensive thab replacing my roof and and getting traditional solar panels installed combined.
The ol' Sgt. Bilko maneuver.
no mention of price
It flies, so the price has an extra digit compared to regular cars and immediately flies out of my budget.
Be realistic; it would have at least two extra digits.
Wait, ALL the digits are extra.
Always have been.
I'm shocked it wasn't a Grok video.
I personally couldn't give less of a fuck.
I just want busses, trains and walkable cities. Cars shouldn't be the norm in any society.
In all fairness they tried horribly in Nevada called the Vegas Loop where tunnels were built under the city to speed up transport using driverless teslas to get to like several points as quick as possible. I think it was a flop though. Its the big reason why companies shouldnt be making these things and instead should be government projects for infrastructure improvement. Mixing profit with necessity never works.
The whole idea is stupid. It's a subway with 2 person cars.
The car company told us why subways simply don't work well. Totally legit. The contract was also won in a competition called "who can make a good public transportation system", so pay no attention to the car company taking the winnings away from the train and bus companies.
Yes.
Also trams ! (That are well separated from car trafic)
I just want busses, trains and walkable cities. Cars shouldn’t be the norm in any society.
And for people who don't live in cities ?
If you need to go to the city you drive your car and then when you're on the outskirts you can get a bus or a train in?
I did not said that.
My "people who don't live in cities" means "for people who don't live in the city and don't need to go in the city", not everyone need a city in their lives.
And in this case, train and bus are not an option for most of the times.
Is it still the "norm" when it concerns less than 20% of the people that make up society? They didn't say cars shouldn't exist at all, just that they shouldn't be the norm.
Not to mention they wrote "busses, trains" before talking about something exclusive to cities.
The car funds fascism
Why is it okay to hype products made by actual, literal Nazis? What the fuck is wrong with us?
That's nice. Fuck Elon Musk.
The description in the article sounded a bit crazy... So I had to lookup a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p5LxFdc-Qg
I can't lie. That's pretty fucking awesome. But until they deliver them it's nothing more than a publicity stunt. And thus far it's been... checks watch nine years.
Aptera has been promising their solar EV since 2009. Just another $150M bro, I promise.
This is the dumbest shit I have seen in a while.
