It's worth pointing out that, while Lemmy doesn't make it easy to see another user's votes, those votes are still public for anyone to see.

I'm also not so sure that any DMs sent from one instance to another are private.

DigThat32 with a 6min video covering various fixes and workarounds for issues in 4.9. Some fixes may have worked for others (but aren't necessarily guaranteed to fix it for you):

Retrieve Arrow for ship greyed out:
Check another kiosk, or get in the elevator with some rando heading to their hangar. When you get teleported out your hangar should be streamed out with no marker, check the kiosk again.

Error 19000 or infinite loading:
Try verifying files. Try a DNS Flush.

Items replaced with tons of fire extinguishers:
Report to issue council. No known workaround

Can't see stats for crafted items:
Equip the item to see it's stats.

Landing Services unavailable:
Wait a few seconds, close, try again -> Try landing closer to center -> try landing on the center -> store and bring it back up -> hop servers (or use a different pad).

For all of these: Alt+F4 and rejoin.

  • Missing cargo at a location
  • Missing Starmap
  • Severe Framerate Drops
  • Stuck in repositioning
  • Unable to see marker for ship (lost at glaciem ring

Ship is not getting stored:
Get back in ship, request takeoff and attempt to fly away. You'll get repositioned and the ship will be stored.

Vehicle Loudout Manager (VMA) Unable to equip or make changes to loadout (doesn't stick):
Resynchronize your system clock

Note - Syncing your clock can fix a number of other issues such as:

  • Error 19005
  • Errors retrieving a recently destroyed ship
  • Hostile Base/Landing Pad Turrets
  • Unable to save changes on character creation
  • Inventory glitches
  • rubber handed items
  • uncluckable buttons

Some information from SC Tools Wiki:

Clair Buffet

Claire Buffet was Vice-President, Operations (North America) at Turbulent / Cloud Imperium Games.[1]

She Joined Turbulent in March 2008 as Associate Producer, became a Partner in January 2013, Vice President Strategy & Creation in November 2019, Studio manager in July 2023 and Vice President of Operations (Canada) in July 2024.[1] She became Vice President of Operations for North America in August 2025.[2]

Mike Jones

Mike Jones was Vice President of Corporate & Publishing Technology at Cloud Imperium Games.[1]

Works at CIG

He always enjoyed MMOs but what really brought him to CIG was a video of Chris Roberts at the first CitizenCon introducing his team and talking about what they were doing, which blew Mike away, how it can be so transparent and so different from everything he had learned in his career so far, but the livestream started cutting out as they were having bandwith problems. Two days later John Erskine called Mike which started his work at CIG[1]

His responsabilities cover the hardware, networking and the infrastucture side of things.[1][2]

All his previous work felt like it was on rails, whereas at CIG he can do something nobody else would try, where he needs to solve problems other companies don't have, this creativity is candyland to him.[1]

Other Works

He played video games, but it never occurred to him what it takes to make a game. He got an opportunity to tour the legendary video game developer Sierra Online and at the end of the tour he was blown away by how cool this was. He was told they had openings for customer service and quality assurance, so he asked which one pays better, was told customer service starts out better but is hard, and Mike asked "how do i get your job?" to was told that to get into a leadership position he needed to start in QA, so he did.[1]

He ran QA teams and found that he had a talent and interest in technology so he kept focusing on that and learning as much as he could.[1]

Quotes

"For the most part, our systems are all custom designed specifically for our needs, and the reason for that of course is, this is a very unique game, and we have very unique needs." -Mike Jones[2]

Trivia

  • The first infrastructure at CIG were two tower servers in a Harry Potter style under the staircase closet that also served as John's office, with a black contractor tarp over the top of the servers to protect them, but not John, from any leaks from the above sewer pipes. He was instrumental in moving to the new offices including using his own truck.[1]

Star Citizen readies its annual Ship Showdown voting event as two CIG execs vanish from the company roster🔗 massivelyop.com/2026/07/23/sta#StarCitizen #MMORPG

Edit - adding this important piece of context:

It’s unclear whether these two have fully left the company, as Noizy points out both Buffett and Jones’ LinkedIn and social media haven’t stated as much, but that hasn’t stopped followers of the project for speculating.

Link1603 posted on spectrum asking about Arena Commander and the rentals that used to be free.

TheDJBuntin-CIG responded that an update is coming with specifics for which ships/vehicles/weapons will be free to rent as well as ships that were previously not available for rent.

Click for response/details

Hi All!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - this was indeed not intended.

An update is being pushed to the AC Shop Service now. I go into more detail below.

Our intent is for one vehicle of each role listed below to be available in Arena Commander for free.
The following vehicles will be free once the service update is live:

  • Fighter: Aegis Gladius
  • Multi-crew: Anvil Paladin
  • Racing: Mirai Razor
  • Gravlev: C.O. HoverQuad
  • Heavy: Crusader C2 Hercules Starlifter

You'll also still have a free stock Tank and Gravlev for game modes for these. (ie Grav Race & Tank Royale)

Behring are also sponsoring Arena Commander this season, featuring some of their ballistic weapons for free across the module:

  • Behring S-38 Pistol
  • Behring BR-2 Shotgun
  • Behring P8-SC SMG
  • Behring P4-AR Rifle
  • Behring FS-9 LMG
  • Behring P6-LR Sniper Rifle

Reminder to check out Single Weapon Elimination each patch to get a hands on with new weapons and gear!

When the service updates the following vehicles will be available for rent, where they weren’t previously:

  • MISC Hull B
  • RSI Aurora Mk2
  • RSI Hermes
  • RSI Apollo Medivac
  • RSI Apollo Triage
  • RSI Perseus
  • RSI Salvation
  • DRAKE Clipper
  • DRAKE Golem OX
  • Greycat MDC
  • Greycat UTV
  • Kruger L-22 Alpha Wolf
  • Anvil Paladin
  • Esperia Stinger
  • Grey's Shiv

AC rentals now also persist across patches, reminder that you can "Extend Rental" to keep them longer.

I also want to reiterate that we are not a fan of the rental system in its current state, whilst that menu being Flash does limit things somewhat I will be investigating quick ways to improve the system for 4.10, one example being having a much longer initial rental period. For now my team is primarily focused on supporting the PU & SC1.0 with some pretty cool and important features (Transport, Radar/Scanning, Instancing and soon Freight Elevators & Hangars) but I will be reviewing some of the top issues in AC and seeing if there’s anything we can do to make the experience better.

Values on the Ship Matrix page now synchronize their values with what's currently available in-game and should no longer get out of date.

Click for quote from Freyja-CIG

Hello everyone,

The RSI Ship Matrix is getting a long-awaited update.

Back in June, Evocati members got an early look at ship specifications pulled directly from the game. Starting today, that update is live for everyone.

No more manual transcription lag. No more specs drifting out of sync patch after patch. What you see on the site now reflects the currently published Live build. When a ship's stats change in-game, the Ship Matrix will reflect it.

We know many of you have been waiting for this one, and we're excited to finally put it in your hands. Let us know what you think - we'll be keeping a close eye on your feedback.

Looks like Spectrum got an overhaul. CIG is looking for feedback.

Some images from the post showing before/after:

I had a similar issue on CachyOS. The launcher would crash a few seconds, or even a minute or two after starting the game download.

Updating my Wine Runner to v11.12-1 fixed it for me.

Run the LUG helper script -> Manage Wine Runners -> Install a runner from LUG Wine -> select a newer version.

I also heard there were some issues with v11.13, so I'm sticking with v11.12 for now.

If you're worried about credibility, the founder is Louis Rossman who's famous for the right to repair movement.

https://www.fulu.org/our-team

Here's a quick 2 minute video of him explaining the Fulu Foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNkIBece8oc

TL/DW: The bounty winners have to prove that their solution works, but they are not required to release the code to the public because, in the U.S., they can be put in prison for 3-5 years for releasing that code publicly.

The point of all this is to be able to demonstrate to legislators that the DMCA needs to be fixed. They are lobbying to protect our digital rights.

transfer them over to the internal drive, and they work. Even without internet.

That might work for some games, but there's an increasing number of games requiring you to establish some sort of connection to the internet even for single player or mostly single player games (Lego Horizon for instance).

Try to transfer one of those and load it up on a new console without an internet connection.

Sure, your "home console" might work for some games for now. But in 10-15 years when Sony is trying to sell you the PS8, they're going to be cutting off service to the PS5. What happens when you have to take that device in for maintenance and they need to do a factory reset? You need to log in again to activate it, except now it's a brick that might only be able to play a few games on physical media. Anything downloaded/backed up would likely require that specific account.

Danverus with a 14min video on which ships can fit the Basher.

Perseus - fits, but awkward.
C2 - Easily fits
Ironclad - can fit at least 4
Polaris - can fit 4 in the upper bay and at least 2 in the lower bay (easier with crane removed).
Idris - plenty of space to fit a lot (no specific number) can also fit 1 in the lower MPUV bay with the help of a second player to close the doors.

According to video comments it fits easily in the Carrack as well.

That makes four of us... at least.

7.6.2026: 4.9 Hotfixing - Goal for HOTFIX channel to open later today for client side testing

We are currently building a new 4.9 HOTFIX to address the top 5 client crashes, multiple issues with loading screens displaying, hitmarker feedback, VR fixes, Wave Scane faction of the player showing “Unavailable”, drag and drop for ammo magazines and consumables/throwables not working, as well as multiple exploit fixes.

We did some work on the 19003 issue that some players were getting to resolve this issue on LIVE

The full list is way too long to include here. If you're curious about anything specific, MrKraken seems to have a very comprehensive list.

I'll drop a quick highlight of his "Annoying Fixes" since those will probably stand out to most.

Annoying Fixes

Some of the biggest annoyances of recent patches have had some potential fixes, including using jump tunnels, they should now correctly deposit you at the destination and not back where you started. That bloody fuel notification is now fixed, sort of, it might still appear when you respawn, but there’s a check in place to clear it now.

Docking has proved far more reliable on PTU after several fix attempts and requesting ATC at a location that supports hangar landing should now correctly assign landing over docking

Double hangar doors at rest stop stations has been fixed, Stanton gateway which has constantly had a blocked large hangar was all clear to leave again on PTU.

Ship cleanup has been tweaked to be more aggressive in Nyx spawn stations & Grimhex, with there now being a 5 hour allowed idle time before getting deleted.

Several Onyx facility related fixes, including Jorret Dossier contract blockers.

Airlocks & loot are once again working in Pyro’s contested zones

Edit: grammar/typo

Bish, bash, bosh! The elusive Grey’s Market lights up its blow torches once again to weld into creation a new over-gunned, aesthetically challenging light fighter, held together by a rope and a prayer.

Definitely depends on the game. For something like StarCitizen, there's a small bar at the bottom when shaders are compiling for letting you know the status. There is a noticeable improvement in game performance once the shaders have completed compiling.

Same, I'll be testing it out later today.

It's going to depend on the instance and what software they're running to connect to the fediverse.

For PieFed instances, visit the homepage for the instance itself, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the "About" page. There's usually some contact info for the admins there.

For Lemmy instances, visit their homepage, scroll to the bottom and click on "Legal". There's usually contact info for the admins there.

For Mbin/Kbin instances, click on the menu, then scroll down to the "contact" link.

Sometimes instances won't let you view information without a local account. Usually, in those cases, you can try to "register for an account" but then look for any sort of "privacy" or "terms of service" links which should have contact information for the instance admins.

Can’t take that away from me.

Well, if it was taken away, it wouldn't be the first time that a lifetime pass was pulled from all customers:

Or the second, or the third, or the fourth... https://dev.to/productimpossible/lifetime-subscriptions-dont-mean-what-you-think-they-mean-1hg7

But, at least Plex has honored their lifetime pass for now. That's a good deal you got there.

The condition doesn't appear in some countries, but that doesn't mean that they won't eventually expand it:

Notably, the clause is conspicuously absent from terms governing Mexico, the United States, and several other regions, meaning players there are not currently subject to the policy. By contrast, the provision has been enforceable in the United Kingdom and various European countries for years, though it largely escaped public notice until the recent physical-format debate brought renewed scrutiny to Sony’s digital practices.
